Ashes, Ashes, They All Fall Down…. (Namandar)

Tue Feb 10, 2004 (11:08 pm)

Impatience and other negative emotions fled from Raeyn as she entered the cavernous space that the city was in.

“So, this is Namandar,” she thought to herself as the clean white lines of the city shone through to her. It was ethereal and ghostly; the area of the pit lit only by crude torches and glowing balls of Saidar, bobbing along and casting cruel shadows in the depths of the darkness.

She permitted herself a small smile.. this was a good place to be; better than so many others. Here they would most certainly find the treasures of a grander Age, and perhaps leave behind a few “accidents”, if the Great Lord deemed it so. Her eyes locked for a second with one of the Green sisters. The child went far enough to start to smile back before starting and ripping away from Raeyn’s baleful gaze. A sharp feeling of warning from the bond jolted her back to attention, and her face back to stillness.

“Thank you, Mat,” Raeyn murmured quietly to her Warder, “Sometimes I think you are the only thing that is keeping sane amidst all these… Green…. sisters.” The last came with a slight sneer, quickly covered again. Her nerves were still too fragile, and no good could come of it.

Still, she had a job to do, for whatever may come of it. She noted several of the sisters assigned to her recovery party already running around with baubles and grinning. Stopping those that she could, she took careful notes on their findings.

Eventually, her wanderings took her and Matalina deeper in the city. The small globe of light perched on her shoulder, she wandered in and out of houses, picking things up as she felt fit, notating all that she saw. Raeyn cursed herself for her minute ability in drawing.. so much here needed to be copied as best possible for posterity.

She put up her nib for a moment and leaned against a building, shaking out her wrists. Mat stood guard on her moment of rest, looking as relaxed as an arrow nocked and drawn. Raeyn smiled… the rediscovery of knowledge, the shadows and her friend, her Warder… this day was turning out to be more bearable than she had thought it would be. Only the cave collapsing and killing all of the Green sisters within could make it any better.

Through the bond, Raeyn could feel Matalina draw herself up tighter, if humanly possible. Pushing away from the building, she peered in the direction that Matalina was staring.. was someone coming towards them?

Raeyn Sedai
Head of the Brown Ajah
Bonded to Matalina Gaidin

Another day, and Another Wish for Death (Namandar)

Raeyn found herself stirring from another restless night of quasi-sleep in the semi-light of dawn. A breeze twitched at the tent-flaps, enough to show Matalina sitting outside in the miserable torridly windy weather.

She smiled, a quick twitch of her lips. In failing to protect her two former Aes Sedai from harm, Matalina seemed to have unseemly dedication to her duties since her fall into the Shadow. It was rare to find anyone loyal to anyone else who served the Shadow, yet the Great Lord had smiled upon Raeyn in finding Mat. And the dedication that Raeyn felt towards Matalina was returned in spades; she had saved this woman from her own death, and she would do her best to protect her dear Warder, one of her dearest friends as well as she could.

Dressing quickly, she pulled on a thick velvet dress in a deep hue of brown over her warm woolen shift. The chill in the air was so terribly reminiscent of home, but her time spent in the Tower had caused her to become unaccustomed to the joyful briskness of a proper winter. Channeling, she relight the brazier that still contained some remaining wood from the night before, at which time Matalina poked her head into the tent.

“Raeyn, they seemed to have found the city. It looks as though they are preparing to enter.”

Raeyn blinked. That would explain the rising noise levels outside, louder than could be accounted for by those in camp simply getting up and heading for some breakfast. “A fine day for discovery,” she murmured ruefully as another breeze ripped open the tent flap to show people milling about outside, running for this and that.

She put on her belt, checking the pouches attached to make sure she had everything she needed: ink, notebook, pens, and a random assortment of other things that she had found useful to have on hand over the years. A small, unadorned dagger tucked into the belt completed her arraignment.

Stepping out of the tent with Matalina shadowing, she let the wind rush over her for a minute before starting towards the direction that people seemed to be excitedly pointing at. A day of destiny for some, a day of doom for others. What would come of today, in the histories, in personal lives?

Three Sitting Ducks (Att: Damian and Luke)

((Continued from The Threesome Reunites *weg* (Rae and Zan) )

19 March 2003 (11:32am)

After a long day of practice in the yards, Andular made his way back to his room where he cleaned up and prepared to go into town. He had made plans with his old Trainee Luke and Warder named Damian, to go to an inn in Tar Valon to watch a Gleeman and have a few ales.

Strapping his sword on his back he quickly made his way to the large tree next to the yards where they were scheduled to meet. Upon arriving he found Luke leaning against the tree already waiting.  “Well met, Luke.”  He greeted shaking hands with the other man.  “Ready for a night on the town to relieve a little stress?”  Luke chuckled and indicated he indeed was. Soon after Damian made his way over the three exchanged pleasantries. “What is the name of this Inn again Andular?”  Damian said with a slight smile on his mouth.  “The Wenches Kiss, I have been there before, the ale is good and the entertainment should be as well. This Gleeman is in high demand from what I understand.”

After a few minutes of small talk the three decided to get moving and made there way toward the city proper as the sun began to set on the horizon.

Damian had met Luke and Andular on the training grounds… and noticed in them the same feelings he was having at the time… the stress and strain of continual training could wear on one. So to stay in good physical and mental health Damian took a night or two off every once in while to allow himself to let go. He knew Tria would not approve.. but part of his training was being mentally in tune with his body… and his body was telling him to go get some drinks tonight.

He met the other two out near a large tree… saying hello to both. When greetings were passed they then began to make their way to the city. Damian wondered where the night would lead… and if he would remember it…

Luke waited patiently for Andular and Damian by the tree. He had agreed to come along for the night to get away from his training but his staff was, as usual, strung across his back. Luke did not consider his staff part of his training anymore, it had become and extension of his body.

Andular arrived first, followed shortly by Damian. The three exchanged greeting briefly before heading out to Tar Valon.

24 March 2003 (11:21am)

The smile that stretched from ear to ear on Taeadra was but only one sign that she had perhaps had a bit more spiced wine than she should have. But even she would admit, it was a nice feeling she was having right now…a feeling of complete freedom. There was a part of her mind that kept trying to interfer and tell her what they were about to do was not in the best interest of three Sisters, let alone three Sitters. She shut that part of her mind off, she wouldn’t be needing it tonight. After over a hundred years in the Tower, they were all due an evening like this…besides it was all in fun. Taeadra doubted anything would come of this evening, though she was certainly hoping she was wrong. That thought caused the smile on her face to grow wider.

As they made their way toward the Warders Yards, they passed an inn called The Wenches Kiss. Tae turned to Raeyn and Zania, “We must stop here first,” she spoke as she lead them up the stairs to the inn, “they make the most delicious pastries here and I’m sure that a quick stop won’t interfer with our plans too much.” The other woman agreed and they walked into the inn.

Tae was about to sit at a table near the door so they could order when someone caught her eye. There was a table with three men seated at it and one of them was none other than the Guard she had been speaking of all night. The mere sight of him caused her to catch her breath once again and she could feel the heat rise to her cheeks instantly.

Raeyn laughed as she looked at Tae, “Why Taeadra, getting ahead of yourself and thinking already of what you would like to do to this, what did you say his name was? Andular?” Tae’s smile only increased as Raeyn spoke, “As a matter of fact dear friend of mine, I was. And it just so happens we won’t have to go far to find him.” She nodded to the table the three men were seated at, “Seems they’ve made our task that much easier.” Suddenly she was more than thrilled with her love of sweets. Though there still was that part of her mind that kept screaming out to her that she was acting very uncharacteristic….again she walled off that part of her mind, this time tight enough that it would have nothing to say for the rest of the night.

With a wicked smile she nodded for the two Sitters to follow her as she made her way through a maze of tables to where Andular and his friends were seated. She recognized one of the men as Damian, Zerah’s Warder whom she had met on that fateful camping trip they had taken. The other seemed very familiar to her, though she could not put her finger on it. The men were involved in conversation when she approached their table and she had to clear her throat to get their attentions. From the looks of the empty ale mugs strewn about their table, the three men had been having quite the evening already. Tae and Damian looked at each other and shared a mutal moment of understanding for what each had been through.

Time to add even more spice up their evening a bit more Tae thought.

When Andular turned at looked into her eyes, she felt that same feeling she had the first time she had seen him. Her stomach felt as if it would leap out of her throat at any moment, and yet again she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks. With a deep breath, she mustered all the Aes Sedai calm she could, “It would appear we met again Andular Rojvas. Would the three of you mind some extra company for the evening?”

Without waiting for an answer, Tae took a seat next to Andular, scooting her chair as close as comfort would allow and turned her eyes to his. Any man who didn’t know full well at this point what her intentions were was a fool….or perhaps just to imbibed to notice the flush the went from her face straight down to the deep neckline of her dress. “So Andular, why don’t you introduce us to your friends here.”

As he made the introductions, Tae turned to each of the other men, but her eyes kept falling back to Andular. With each glance at him, she knew with more surety that she would not relent until she had this man……

Luke emptied his glass with one final drink. As the last drops dripped into his mouth he noticed something through the bottom of his glass. The woman he saw through the clear bottom looked familiar, very familiar. Setting his glass down he narrowed his eyes at her.

“I recognize you.” he said, jabbing his finger at her. “You’re the Sedai that tossed me into Bril’s room that day to dress her.” Luke opened his mouth to continue his somehwat slurred speach when he thought of something very disturbing. “She’s not with you, is she?” Luke hunched his back and his eyes tried to look everywhere at once. Whatever Luke had had to drink was obviously affecting him. Just then the maid placed another full glass in front of Luke and he was back to normal, contentedly drinking away.

27 March 2003 (4:20pm)

Taeadra smiled just the slightest of smiles, now she remembered the boy…though at the time he did not look like a boy. As he had his mug half way to his mouth, Tae channeled a bit of Air and froze his hand mid-air. She leaned over the table and met his eyes with her own frozen glare, “As a matter of fact, she should be here any moment now.”

Tae had expected the wide eyed look from the boy, but when Andular nearly jumped out of his chair to look for this Bril girl, she was a bit confused, but just pushed it out of her mind for the moment. Turning back to the boy, she could see him trying in vain to either lift his mug all the way up, or to at least put it down. When it appeared that he was trying to lift it up, she let go of the strand of Air and everyone chuckled a bit as the mug went flying toward his face with a splash.

With a laugh she spoke, “Do not worry…what is your name boy, I can’t call you boy all night!”

“Uh…Luke mam..er, Aes Sedai”

“Very well, do not worry Luke, this Bril is of no concern to me. Should we see her tonight I will make sure she is not able to cause you any trouble. I’m sure you got quite enough of that the day I threw you into her room.” Tae laughed as she took another sip of her wine. One of her hands then moved below the table to rest on Andular’s leg as she gave him a wink…………..

27 March 2003 (4:49pm)

Damian looked up to see three women approaching the table…. and through his semi-blurred vision he was almost positive one was Taeadra Sedai…. In fact it was! It was Taeadra Sedai! He lifted his mug to Tae..

“Shello Taeadra Shedai…. ” Then he turned his glass to the other two ladies as they were sitting down.. “And hellosh… to you ladiesh….” Damian had to control himself… he was in a singing mood and he knew it… He also knew it wouldn’t quite sound the way he wanted it to… so he just sat there for a little… trying to work on his speech…

He listened to Luke and Tae speak a little… he had no idea what they were talking about… though getting thrown into dressing a woman… he couldn’t figure out what was bad about it. But obviously Luke didn’t seem to like it… So he figured to help him out a little…

“Hey Tae… Weren’t you and Yuval getting shnuggly on our trip? How are the two wittle wove birds doing?” From the look he had just recieved he knew he had said something wrong… but his mind was having a hard time making the connection… “Was it something I said?” he asked himself… uh oh…

29 March 2003 (12:06am)

Zania, a little in the cups, made sure to sit as slowly as she could since the room was spinning a bit. *Why am I the only one who notices that* She give her self a small shake as she sat next to the very drunk Warder who had just spoken. He was not bad looking and although some of her sisters did not like the Warders she could honestly say she preferred a Warder rather then the simple Tar Valon stock she had seen.

Feeling a bit mischievious she winked to the one Tae had been speaking to then turned her attention to the one next to her. She knew she had something to say but right at that moment the room began to spin again. *Well that was some very good wine we had I will have to visit that inn again* Then suddenly she give her fingers a snap which had Tae give her a look, “So are any of you men going to offer us a small bit of wine?” she gave them a smile.

Sliding into the booth next to Zania and Damian, Raeyn sat a little stiffly and sipped at her wine. After hearing about Taeadra’s shared hangover with her Warder, Raeyn wasn’t too terribly inclined to want to do something of the like to Matalina.

Sighing softly to herself, she started tracing idly in a patch of spilled wine, lost in thought.

Taeadra’s eyes narrowed as she looked at Damian, “Yuval is lucky that I did not hang him from a tree and leave him there for the Trollocs….though I will thank him someday for seeing me safely back to the Tower. Beyond that he is nothing more than a little man to me!” Tae could not believe that anyone would think something was going on between her and Yuval….light the man was not right in the head.

Seeing that the men were not going to do much about getting more drinks she motioned a serving girl over to the table and ordered more wine for them and some ales for the men then turned her attentions to Andular, “So Andular, what brings you to Tar Valon this night?”
Taeadra

08 April 2003 (10:37am)

Andular’s head swam as much from the feelings that Taeadra Sedai was causing in him as the ale the three men had consumed. Never in his wildest imagination would he have thought to see her here tonight much less have her come sit next to him. To have the beautiful Sedai next to him brought on mixed feelings of lust, excitement, guilt and nervousness. Hearing Bril’s name mentioned caused him to nearly jump up and run out of the inn right there and then, which he knew deep down would be in his best interest. Glancing at Damian and Luke he was aware of the other two Sedais causing them to squirm as well.

Suddenly Tae’s hand was on his leg and she winked at him. “So what Andular, what brings you to Tar Valon this night?” He shivered as her hand gently traced its way up his leg.  “Bbbb-rought me to ttown?” he stammered. Tae smiled at him seductively.  “Yes to town, you know to this inn?”

The temperature in the inn seemed to be rising as he waved for another round of drinks and he tried unsuccessfully to ignore her probing hands on his leg.  “Ummmm, well it is like this Taeadra Sedai, we ..I mean us three..well we, that is wanted to just unwind.”  Tae chuckled either at his nervousness or his red cheeks he could not tell.

As he sat there looking into her eyes a small thought in the back of his mind was screaming at him to push her away and run like the dark one was after him back to his room. Try as he might however he could not bring himself to break away from her beautiful eyes.

08 April 2003 (2:23pm)

Damian enjoyed watching Andular getting suprised by Tae. He had never seen the man suprised and uncomfortable this way before. But he had to do something to save him… even if for a second. Men had to stick together against women… right? He didn’t know.. he was drunk.

“Speaking of unwinding…. we all seem a little low on drinks….” He looked down in his glass… yup… he was empty. “What does everyone want?”

He took everyone’s order and made his way over to the bar. He ordered up…. well… what he thought he remembered everyone saying they wanted. He wasn’t too sure… he wasn’t even sure if the bar was staying still… but he knew he could still stand… and walk… he thought. He grabbed the drinks and made his way back to the table….

He got there and then… almost spilled them all over everybody… almost… but he caught himself and was able to deliver the drinks to the table. “Ok… who ordered…… the brown drink…”

09 April 2003 (10:31am)

Taeadra held Andular’s gaze until Damian returned to the table with more drinks for everyone. Her fingers still danced up and down his leg, and her eyes were filled with mischief and an intense attraction. She wasn’t sure if Damian had truly wanted to get drinks for everyone, but she suspected not. It was as if he was trying to distract her somehow, but why, she did not know. Andular was a grown man, and didn’t seem to need any “saving” from what she could see.

Turning her attentions from Andular for a moment, she decided to see if she could distract Damian, “Raeyn, did you know that Damian here spends nearly as much time with his face buried in a book as you do?” She smile encompassed her entire face, she knew at the mention of books that Raeyn would be drawn in, if only momentarily, but that would be enough for her purposes. “He is a student of Me’Arearth I believe. A discipline of the mind as much as of the body is it not Damian?” She hoped that Raeyn would draw him into a conversation as to what he studied, if anyone in the Tower knew more about the books that filled the library than Raeyn, Tae had yet to meet them.

She leaned over to Zania then, her hand still not leaving Andular’s leg and whispered to her. She was hoping that perhaps Zania would distract Luke before he thought to interupt with her and Andular. With a small wink to her good friends, she turned back to Andular.

She leaned in very close to him, her lips close enough to his ear that he was sure to feel each breath she took. A throaty whisper eminated from her as she spoke to him, “If it is unwinding you seek Andular, I am sure that there is something that would appeal to you much than sipping ales with these two boys.” She put an emphasis on the last word to leave no doubt in his mind that she felt he was anything but a boy. Her eyes danced and sparkled as he swallowed hard, then brought his mug to his lips and took a long drink of his ale…..

10 April 2003 (10:50am)

Damian had to think hard for a second. What was his discipline again? And did he read books? He wasn’t sure so he took another drink… ahhh, yes, that hit the spot. Now he remembered..

“Yes… I study … something like that… called…. Mer’wreath… yeah… thats it… and yeah.. I read a lot of books… usually about battles and phystics. Yeah… after reading those phystttttic books… I think I can almost make one of those cantapult dealies… I think…” He had to take another drink. The woman sitting next to him was kind of cute though… yes… yes she was.

10 April 2003 (4:37pm)

In the back of Luke’s mind he was concerned about what Andular might be getting into, but he figured that Andy could take care of himself. The rest of him was bored, and boredom did not usually lead to wise decisions for Luke. Leaning back in his chair, he began spinning his staff in his hand behind him. Luke manipulated the staff as easily as if he had been sober, but his balance on the chair was in danger.

10 April 2003 (6:43pm)

Zania sipped on her wine trying to drink lady like in front of the men. She watched as the one spinning the staff leaned more dangerously far back in his chair. She wanted to say something since she knew Tae wanted her to keep this one distracted. “You should watch yourshelf……..Luke? yesh Luke you are about to…” Before she got the rest out he fell back.

She giggled as she watched his face as he hit the floor thinking it was the most hilarous thing she had ever seen.

14 April 2003 (11:02am)

Zerah felt slightly dizzy. It had been building for the last few hours, and now it was starting to annoy her. It was Damian. He was getting drunk. Eventually it got all too much for her, so she put on her cloak and followed the bond to where Damian was. As she walked in she stopped for a moment. Right in front of her eyes was Damian and two other men she did not know, plus Zania, Taeadra and Raeyn. Zerah shook her head and walked over. “Well hello all. So this is where you’re at. Damian,” she turned to her Warder. “I’ve been having this slight dizziness all day, and i thought you might explain why.” She arched her eyebrows at him. He looked quite puzzled at her being there. When he didn’t answer she couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh whatever. I’m gonna have a major hangover tomorrow anyway, from the way you’re pouring down those drinks.” And with that she waved for the serving maid and ordered wine for herself and another round of ale and wine for the others. “Oki.. so what’s up?”

14 April 2003 (4:27pm)

Zania giggled at the face Damian made when Zerah started to in on him. She was sure the Blue would give him a good slap for getting drunk. When she sat down and decided to join them Zania was a bit surprised but then smiled and passed over the wine. “Welcome Zeeerah it’s always good to see old friends.” She toasted to the Gray and then gluped down her wine.

14 April 2003 (4:41pm)

Looking up from the table, she nodded to Zerah Sedai as she joined their group. Despite the fact she hadn’t had terribly much to drink, she felt extremely off-balance this eve. Sipping on her wine, she turned her attenteions back to Zerah’s Warder.

“Now, What is this of books? Interesting fields of study, I must say!” Smiling warming, she scooted closer to Damian, even though everyone was pretty tightly packed at the table already. “I can understand the physics, surely, considering that some of what you mentioned would enable those fighting with you to have a better chance of survival..” she continued to natter on in the traditional Brown fashion until she realized that others at the table were looking at her a little oddly. Blushing, Raeyn buried her face in her wine to hide what was probably the beginning of a mild blush.

14 April 2003 (4:48pm)

Zerah looked at Zania with a grin and poured down the second cup of wine. With Damian’s drunkenness it didn’t take long before she, too, was feeling the effects. “Soooo…” She looked at the table for a while. “Ah.. i can’t remember.” She shook her head. “Yes! Now i remember. Do you think that if a Warder is drunk.” She looked at Damian. “And his Aes Sedai gets drunk.” She pointed at herself. “Then are they double-drunk? And if so. Will they get a double-headache in the morning, or will there be a way to make only the Warder have it? Is there a weave or something?” The others looked at her incredously. Especially Damian started to look worried. She arched her eyebrows at them, and when she realized that her cup was empty, grabbed Damian’s and gulped down what was left there. “Really though. What do you think?”

14 April 2003 (5:09pm)

Damian didn’t think he had ever seen Zerah drink…. Of course he still wasn’t sure if that was what he was seeing… He was trying to pay attention to the brown… going on about all this book stuff… and he even tried to soak it in… but he knew the alcohol was pushing it away… he was almost gone when suddenly something almost sobered him up completely… what was it? Zerah mentioning getting him doubly drunk.

“Uhhh… yeah… can’t happen.. really! So no reason to even try. Besides, I am sure you will want to do plenty of work tommorow… See… already sobering up myself. Barmaid! Can I get a water!” He had a feeling though that it didn’t matter… she was going to figure this out… ahhh… thats why he agreed to bond her… such a sweetie…

“Screw it.. and another ale…”

15 April 2003 (12:59pm)

“If it unwinding you seek Andular, I am sure there is something that would appeal to you much more than sipping ale with these two boys.”  Taeadra whispered into her hot breath on his ear sent shivers up his spine and caused the hairs on the back of his neck to stand up.

Suddenly there was a large crash causing him to jump as Luke toppled over in his chair. The Sedai talking with him laughed as he regained his chair with an embarrassed look. The momentary distraction caused Tae to move her hand and Andular quickly scooted his chair as far from her as possible, unfortunately that was still in easy reach of her hands. Just as she turned her attention back to him with a wicked smile another Sedai approached the table.

Draining his entire glass of ale in one swallow Andy listened as she was introduced as Damian’s bond holder. Putting both elbows on the table he leaned forward and pretended to listen to the conversation while trying to avoid eye contact with Tae.

His mind was clouded from too much ale and he thought of an excuse to leave quickly but none came as he noticed Tae looking at him as she scooted her chair over closing the small gap he had created. “Light,” He thought to himself “But she is beautiful.”  Shaking his head he chided himself.  “I must not let her seduce me.”  He whispered as he made himself think of Bril.

15 April 2003 (8:45pm)

When he moved his chair away, Taeadra regarded Andular from the corner of her eye. Going to play hard to get are you? she thought…..so be it. The game was on in her eyes, he was proving to be a challenge, but one that she was more than interested in playing for.

She let him have his space for the moment, while she greeted Zerah. It had been sometime she had seen her, and though that trip had started out peacefully enough, it certainly hadn’t ended the way any of them would have liked. Though they each still had their lives, and that was enough to be thankful for. She and Zerah shared a knowing look, but then Zerah zeroed in on Damian….from the look in the Gray’s eyes, Damian was in for trouble and Tae was glad to be around to see it. (*weg*) But she had a game of her own to be concerned with and it was time she got to it in earnest.

She gave Andular a sideways glance, he looked to be trying to hide himself between his arms…and such arms they were. Even with the coat he was wearing covering him up, she could still see the outlines of muscles that had been honed over many years of hard work. As she scooted her chair closer to Andular the image in her mind of those arms being wrapped around her caused a small moan to escape her. Thankfully soft enough she hoped no one else had heard it…except Andular. He must have for he tried to stare the handle right off his mug. Let the game begin

She reached her hand out and lightly placed it on his chin, turning his face toward hers. “Is it the ale causing you to be so quiet…..or do I just make you nervous?” The corners of her mouth drew up in a slow smile, and her eyes gazed deeply into his as she leaned in closer and placed a finger over his lips just before he could speak, “I assure you, there is nothing to be nervous about Andular. I don’t bite…unless you want me to.”

28 April 2003 (3:21pm)

He looked over at Zerah, with her mug of ale drinking away. He had resigned the fact that he was going to have one heck of a headache tommorow and so continued his drinking, figuring he might as well earn it. He was well lost in his drink when he heard a few words spoken over the hubbub of the inn.

“Hey.. yeah… bite him Tae… I bet we would all love that show…” For some reason there was a voice in his head telling him to shut the heck up right there and right now… but the alcohol was causing even that voice to be slurred and unintelligable… so he just kept right on babbling…

“In fact… hey.. I want to be bitten too! Any takers? Zerah?” He probably had the dopiest grin on his face.. but he just couldn’t help it….

28 April 2003 (7:19pm)

Zania sat slighty sobering up as she watched Tae tease the poor Warder. She looked around the table and tried not to fall off her chair. “So Zerah you have certain interests in this warder of yours or is he a free man?” She hiccupped after she spoke as she smiled sweetly at Damian as she tried to scoot a bit closer to him.

Taeadra nodded to Damian, “Why Damian, I think that is the most clear headed thought you have had all night.” Without giving Andular a chance to react to Damian’s challenge, she leaned in close to him and bit him ever so playfully on the neck. As she did so one of her hands slipped across the back of his neck while the other resumed it’s place high on his leg.

She didn’t pull her face away from Andular though, instead she moved up closer to his face and whispered in his ear as she brought her hand from behind his neck to trace around his ear, “I don’t believe you ever decided whether or not you needed a distraction Andular dear. Afterall, you aren’t going to let Damian have all the fun are you?” She could see Zania scooting in closer to Damian, who now looked like a mouse corned by a cat….he just didn’t know how clever a cat it was………

Her warm breath on his ear sent a shiver up Andular’s spine, swallowing hard he pushed his chair back and stood up. “With all due respect Aes Sedai, you are quite beautiful and I am sure a catch most men would not be able to pass up.”  Grabbing his tankard and draining the last of his ale he exhaled sharply as Tae stared at him.

“I however do have to decline your advances, my heart and body are already spoken for and I would appreciate it if you would respect my wishes and find another to fulfill your needs.”  Not waiting for a response Andy quickly walked to the bar and ordered another round of ales nervously looking over his shoulder while he waited for them.

Decline my advances? Well this is interesting….

Taeadra watched him walk over to the bar to order another round of drinks. She was not accustomed to people declining her for anything, and she was deciding just what to do about this. Excusing herself from the table, Tae made her way to the bar where Andular was standing. Folding her hands underneath her breasts she arched her eyebrow and fixed him with what could be considered the epitomy of a White Ajah stare, “So tell me Andular Rojvas, if you are spoken for as you say, why wait so long to say anything to me? Is it that you just like to play games with women…or is it that you really aren’t spoken for? If it is the former, I’m sure you lover would find that very interesting, but if it is the latter….well that could be a fun game. As for fullfiling my needs, perhaps you are right, there are many others I could direct my advances toward. However, I am very particular about whom I wish to advance upon.”

He didn’t turn to look at her at all, but she could see him swallow hard before answering her. “As I said Aes Sedai, I am spoken for…I assure that is the truth. As for playing games, no, I had no intentions of playing any games here tonight. It seems though that you are very good at playing them. Now please, I have asked you once to direct your advances elsewhere…I am asking you again to do so.” Grabbing the drinks he had ordered, he brushed past her quickly. Taeadra smiled at him as he did so……she was very good at games, and she had yet to truly begin playing them. He did seem very sincere about what he had said though…perhaps she would leave him be, but first she wanted to know just who this other woman was.

Tae walked slowly back to the table, examining the other men in the inn…but none were what she was looking for. Pity Andular won’t play along, even for just a night, she sighed to herself. Taking her seat again Tae looked at Damian, suspecting that he had had enough to drink he would tell her what it was she wanted to know. “Damian, Andular here tells me that he is spoken for body and heart.” Damian nodded, “Oh yeah, Brililin.” As soon as he had spoken the words, Damian looked at Andular apologetically.

“Brililin….how very interesting Andular. She is not at all what I would have expected for you. I had the pleasure of meeting her once before, nice girl even if a tad on the….intense side. But perhaps that what you require, seems you have a thing for strong women. I wonder just what she would have to say about this evening.” From the looks of the three men, Tae knew that Bril’s reaction would be just as she had suspected it would. “Perhaps I can strike up a conversation with her next time I am in the Yards…I’m sure we could find something to talk about.” Tae had no intention of speaking with the girl….but the look on Andular’s face was worth letting him think that she just might…….

A Sweet Surprise! Wedge in Trouble (Asha, and the 3 AS)

06 March 2003 (7:52pm)

The Aes Sedai coughed as she walked by the small alcove that Wedge hid in. It’s shadow hid him well this late in the evening, the standlamps were lit, leaving a few good places to hide when needed. The leather tube strapped to his back tapped the wall and the plump Aes Sedai paused a second to look around before continueing her walk away from his hiding spot.

Wedge snuck from corner to corner, relying on all his stalking ability and stealth. He had grown up in the woods near his home first stalking animals for food, then bandits for defense. Most had never heard him come before his knife was in their throat. But he was not sneaking around the White tower to kill. No, he was not risking a fate worse than death to defend his family, but for love.

Sliding silently down a hall, he found the room that he was looking for. He had promised a novice some linen from Tar Valon for this information, it better be right. Ever so slightly, Wedge knocked on the door, perring each direction for anyone who might see him. No answer. The door opened quietly and he snuck in.

Ashanda’s scent was stuck in the room, she could not have been gone long. He quit thinking of her and continued with his task. unstrapping the tube, he opened the top to revel green stems. Pulling on the stems, a full bouquet of fresh roses popped out. ‘Boy these cost a pretty penny’ he thaught to himself, ‘I hope Ashanda likes them.’ Turning the tube upside down, he placed it on the writing desk and the flowers into the tube.

Next phase: Wedge reached into his pocket removing the sealed envelope. Shaking his head…”no this is too much, too forward.” realizing stealth was needed, he shut up. Shaking his head, he began to put the letter way, then back out. After some fighting with himself, Wedge finally placed the letter against the flowers, with his familly seal of a Heron in Flight facing out. He thaught about what Ashanda would read when she opened the Letter:
—-

My Dearest Ashanda,

I have always believed that when one sees somthing they want, they should go straight for it. An item, or an idea, or a victory, the only path is a straight line to it, with dedication and perserverence. Since I met you I cannot bring myself to say how i feel. When I am near you, all I have ever thaught changes, and I flounder away my time just to be near you. I cannot just take what I want from you, nor would I want to. There is no straight line to your heart Ashanda, but i will take whatever path it takes to have it. You have changed my world Ashanda, and i hope you will continue to be a part of it for years to come.

Always yours,

Wedge Antilles
Son of Etrik Antilles
Son of Bail Antilles

Wedge was not sure if all the formality was needed, but it was the only way he could think of writting such a letter. He mentally thanks his mother for his lessons in writing and hoped Ashanda would like it.
Opening the door a crack Wedge peered out, then stuck his head out. All clear. Exiting the room, he turned to close the door with a click and spun around, bumping straight into 3 Aes Sedai who, Despite being much shorter than he, were staring down at him….

Raeyn was feeling a little harried after this day. She had spent the majority of it supervising her mentee Emyli cleaning in the Library, then had been stuck answering questions for various Tower petitioners after that. Hurrying up the stairs from the ground floor, she had spotted Taeadra, and sped up her pace to an almost run to catch up wit her.

“Taeadra? How goes it this day?”

They chatted amicably as the made their way up the stairs, and as they made their way through the Accepted’s Quarters, a male head popped out of a room right as they were almost upon it. Looking up, they saw another Sister coming from the other direction, and all three converged behind the male in question.

“What should we do about this?” Raeyn murmured to the other two Sisters.

07 March 2003 (11:17am)

Tae was wandering through the Tower with no real purpose in mind, she’d spent the day meeting up with the other White Sisters and just checking in on them. The White ajah had never been known for it’s ‘friendliness’, and sometimes it was difficult to even get the White’s to talk to each other. But Taeadra had always tried to at least check in with them once in awhile, primarily to make sure they were all still there.

A familiar voice from behind her caught her off guard and she jumped a bit before turning to see Raeyn walking up to her.

“Taeadra? How goes it this day?”

She smiled warmly at her old friend, “This day is just like many others in the Tower, not enough Novices to torment and too much free time on my hands.” The both shared a laugh and continued through the Tower eventually ending up in the Accepted’s quarters just in time to see a male poke his head out of one of the girls rooms. Tae and Raeyn approached him just as another Sister, Kaylan Sedai was coming from the other direction. The three Aes Sedai looked the man up and down.

“What should we do about this?” asked Raeyn.

“What ever we do, it should not be pleasant for him. We certainly cannot let him get away with this, I wonder what his excuse for being here is.” Taeadra locked her cold eyes on him, “And just what exactly are you doing here?”

“What ever we do, it should not be pleasant for him. We certainly cannot let him get away with this, I wonder what his excuse for being here is.” Taeadra locked her cold eyes on him, “And just what exactly are you doing here?”

Wedge froze in their gaze. Nothing Aes Sedai… I Mean, giving a gift to my freind Aes Sedai.” Wedge wondered what next. The 3 Aes Sedai opened the door slightly and inspected the room, looking at the flowers and sealed letter.

“Friend is it? And where is this friend?”

Wedge was in big trouble. “Well, no Aes Sedai, more than a freind, i merely wanted to supprise her.” Wedge hoped that these Aes Sedai knew what it was like to be in love as they ushered him away….

Ashanda stormed back to her room. She had never had a more horrible afternoon since she was a Novice. The nerve of that… that…. man! If Raekal got her kicked out of the Tower for his actions she would never forgive him. She slammed the door to her quarters open and dropped rather unladylike on her bed, her mind reeling with oaths she kept to herself. She sat up on her bed, thoughts of what she would do to Raekal if she ever got her hands on him again running through her mind. Though she was sure some were probably physically impossible they still calmed her down. It took her a moment to register that there was something different about her room.

Anger turned to alarm at first. Someone had broken into her Quarters. It wasn’t until she got up to investigate the items on her desk that the panic changed to another emotion. A smile crept across her face as she read the words in that letter. Wedge. Leave it to him to be the bright spot in her day. Gently grabbing up the roses, she gave them a sniff before picking out the one she thought was the most beautiful. Removing the stem and pressing it into her journal next to another flower, her smile grew wider. Then she placed the remaining flowers into a vase and lay back on her bed, all thoughts of Raekal lost to her daydreams of Wedge.

Suddenly, she decided to find him. This was something she wanted to thank him in person for and she didn’t want to wait and hope to meet him in town or around the Tower.

09 March 2003 (10:54pm)

Kaylan was walking through the Accepted quarters, vaguely thinking of visiting Calia again, when she spotted a male figure ducking into a room. She walked toward it, seeing two sisters coming in the other direction. She nodded to the White and Brown, chatting amicably, when his head popped out of the room, checking the Halls. They put their heads together, wondering what he could be doing. Kaylan’s first thought – ‘A man in love’, was closely followed by a second – ‘a gray man’.
As he came out of the room, Kaylan thought she recognised him. What was his name? Wedge. A tower guard. And Calia’s intended Warder, if she remembered correctly.
“What ever we do, it should not be pleasant for him. We certainly cannot let him get away with this, I wonder what his excuse for being here is.” Taeadra locked her cold eyes on him, “And just what exactly are you doing here?”
“Nothing Aes Sedai… I Mean, giving a gift to my friend Aes Sedai.” He looked… twitchy. The 3 Aes Sedai opened the door slightly and inspected the room, looking at the flowers and sealed letter. Kaylan was suddenly glad, becuase it was better that option than the other. Still, while men were not expressly forbidden to enter the Accepted quarters, it was highly frowned upon. Taedra spoke again.
“Friend is it? And where is this friend?”
Wedge looked even more nervous, if that was possible. “Well, no Aes Sedai, more than a friend, i merely wanted to suprise her.”
Kaylan hid a small smile. He was outside Ashanda’s room, an aspiring green, if she remembered correctly. The girl was getting an early start on what it was to be Green. Nonetheless, it was not proper conduct for a tower guard.
She ushered him down the hall, out into the gardens, the other two Sedai still with them.
“Wedge, isn’t it?” The Tower gaurd nodded silently.
“Wedge, I am Kaylan Sedai, of the Green ajah. Now, I know what it is to be in love, and I know what it is to want to surprise someone that you love.” He seemed to relax a little.
“HOWEVER. That is no excuse, and will not make it any easier upon you. Tower guards have better things to do with their time than be writing love letters and picking flowers, yes? As such, we will be thinking of a suitable punishment. Please wait here for a moment.”
Kaylan looked to the other two sisters, and beckoned them a little way down th path.
“Well? I think it is… cute, in a way. But that is still no excuse. Accepted have better things to do than flirt with Gaidin, even if they are as… talented as he is. Still. He should have something better to do with his time, as should she. I wonder how long this has been going on? But, I leave the topic. What do you think we should do with him?”

Wedge made his best attempt at looking powerful and gaidin-like, though the aes sedai had a knack for making that less than usual. They stood huddled in a circle, talking, and peering at him. He hoped it wouldn’t be too bad.

He should have something better to do with his time, as should she. I wonder how long this has been going on? But, I leave the topic. What do you think we should do with him?”

Cute was not a word that Taeadra would have used to describe it, though any thoughts of how “nice” it was for him to do something like what he had done had flown out of her head the moment she realized just what Accepted’s room he had been in. Ashanda Kisain…Tae had had the pleasure of running into the girl several times and thought that she still needed several lessons on what it meant to be Aes Sedai.

Ashanda had made it clear from the beginning that she intended to be raised to the Green Ajah, but Taeadra thought that no excuse for the behavior the girl had displayed since arriving at the Tower. The tales of her exploits were known by many of the Sisters.

Tae gazed at the Tower Guard, letting her ice green eyes peer right through him until he shifted a bit, then turned to Raeyn and Kaylan, “I agree Sisters, Accepteds have far more to do than attempting to win the affections of as many Tower Guards as possible….and the Light knows that Tower Guards have duties of their own. I think a lesson is in order here…a lesson that will remind this one that he is here to protect.”

12 March 2003 (3:26am)

Kaylan watched as the White turned her cool gaze to Wedge. The poor boy was begining to sweat. Unfortunately, Kaylan had been out of the Tower for so long that she did not know much about the Accepted in question except for the fact that she was aspiring to the Green. After making Wedge squirm for a while, Taedra spoke.
“I agree Sisters, Accepteds have far more to do than attempting to win the affections of as many Tower Guards as possible….and the Light knows that Tower Guards have duties of their own. I think a lesson is in order here… a lesson that will remind this one that he is here to protect.”
As many Tower guards as possible? Perhaps she needed to speak to Taya or Mandi about this one…
Realising that none of the others was forthcoming with punishment ideas, Kaylan sighed and opened her mouth.
“Indeed, he must learn that he is here to protect. Thus, if it is agreeable to you two, I will take him as a ‘mock’-warder, for a time. Not to Bond, mind you, but to give him an idea of his proper duties. I must speak with this Accepted, also, but now is not the time. If you two agree?” Kaylan waited on the other’s responses.

Raeyn looked at Kaylan in a dubious manner, tapping a finger on her lip before responding, “I’m not sure if that would be the best for him, Kaylan Sedai. Greens DO have a tendancy to underwork their Warders, unless there is battle to be had.” She shrugged, then continued, “Perhaps he should take a turn with each of us, to get a feel of what else could happen to him. Each Ajah IS different, and those Warders bonded to the sisters of different Ajahs could probably say so as well. However, if you would like the first go in this, I can do nothing but agree with you. Taeadra? What say you?”
Raeyn

12 March 2003 (2:42pm)

Raeyn’s idea intriguied Taeadra and a very faint smile grew on her lips as she spoke, though the smile was not nearly as wicked as the glint in her eyes, “Raeyn, I think you may have just found the perfect solution. I believe a week as each of our ‘mock’ Warder should suffice to teach him a lesson…or three.”

She walked over to where the Guard was standing and smiled at his attempt to make himself look larger. The smile she had was now gone and though he stood over a hand taller than her she tried to give the appearance she was looking at him eye to eye. She knew she was successful when he began to shift under her gaze.

The three women explained their ‘lesson’ to Wedge and dismissed him with instructions that he was to report to Kaylan first thing the next morning. After working out the details amoung themselves, Tae excused herself and walked toward the Gardens. Though the night air was cold and brisk, Tae was enjoying it. So lost in thought she became that when Raeyn sat down next to her Tae nearly jumped out of her seat. “Tae, I saw that look in your eye…what do you have planned for that poor boy?”

Tae smiled at her old friend, “Oh nothing, just a little fun…for me.”

You’re in For it Now, Emyli! (ATTN: Wedge)

04 March 2003 (11:12pm)

Raeyn Sedai sat in her corner of the library and sighed. As much as she loved her other Brown sisters, they did tend to neglect the maintence of the library. Shaking her head, she turned back to the book at hand.

After an indeterminable amount of time, she looked up to see her latest mentee, Emyli, sitting at a table pouring over a stack of books. Raeyn smiled inwardly, “Ahh, I remember having to study like crazy when I was still a novice.”

As if her thought was a cue, Emyli stood up and started to walk away from the table, leaving the stack of books. Standing up, Raeyn dashed to the girl’s side.

“What do you think you are doing, Emyli?” Raeyn demanded indignatly, “You should not leave the books on the table! That is disrepectful to those of us in the Brown Ajah that work hard to keep the library in some form of order! I think that a lesson is in order!”

Grabbing the girl’s hand, Raeyn dragged her back to the table and pointed to the stack of books, “Firstly, put up these books that you took out, and then put up those books there.” She said as she gestured to the overflowing carts of books that needed to be reshelved, “Then make sure that the card catalog is in order… I think other novices have let it get out of order again.. And when you’re done with that, much dusting is in order. Well? Get on it!!”

Watching the girl, Raeyn returned to her chair and sat back down. Before a full minute had even passed, she was engrossed in her book again.

Emyli sighed over her stack of books. As nice as Ashanda was, her classes required alot of work. All these books on the Age of legends! Sniffing, she closed on and put it atop the rest. ‘I think I will take a walk around the halls to clear my head’ Emyli thaught to herself. Beginning to walk away.

What do you think you are doing, Emyli?” Raeyn demanded indignatly, “You should not leave the books on the table! That is disrepectful to those of us in the Brown Ajah that work hard to keep the library in some form of order! I think that a lesson is in order!”

“BUT AES SEDAI!!!” Emyli begged, she would come back and clean them.

“Firstly, put up these books that you took out, and then put up those books there.” She said as she gestured to the overflowing carts of books that needed to be reshelved, “Then make sure that the card catalog is in order… I think other novices have let it get out of order again.. And when you’re done with that, much dusting is in order. Well? Get on it

But Aes Sedai…”
“No BUTS!”

Resigning to her fate, Emyli began putting the 7 books back that she had been reading. You would think that 7 books on the same subject would all come from the same section! FAW.
Raeyn Sedai hadn;t even bothered to make sure she was doing any work. but Emyli knew, if anything was off, Raeyn Sedai would have her hide sent to the MoN. Besides the fact that she was her Mentor, and could make lessons very painfull.

Pulling a stool up to the card catalog, Emyli sighed again and got to work. What a mess! Q books in the A drawer! “This will take forever.” Emyli mused to herself…

“Put a little elbow grease into it girl!” Raeyn Sedai said, walking by seemingly never stopping reading that book as she walked. She turned down and aisle. “And get off that stool, proper girls don’t sit like that.” The last words fading into the distance.

Sighing once more, Emyli pulled the stool away and began sorting again. Someone had put half the R’s in the P drawr, and some T’s in the P. Why did everyone not put these away!?!?!

A few hours past, and Emyli was almost done. OH! Here is an H in the Z drawer! Pulling the Z draw out, she heard a loud Crack and the bottom of the drawer fell out, spraying cards everywhere!

Another hour, and Emyli’s stomach was rumbling, but she finished up. Luckilly the wood could be restuck onto the nails that held the sides of the thin drawer together.Sighing, Emyli ran off hoping to get some dinner before the kettles were cleaned.

05 March 2003 (11:31pm)

Looking around the Library, Raeyn could see that Emyli had made an honest effort, but things still needed work. Deciding to let the girl get some dinner and rest, she decided to let things go until the next morning.

~***~

The next morning found Raeyn Sedai in the Novice Quarters bright and early, and once again knocking on a now-familiar door. A groggy Emyli answer, squeaking as she dropped into a curtsy in her nightgown.

“Emyli, I wanted to thank you for your work yesterday. However, I think there is still much that you could do. Change, get some breakfast, and then meet me back in the library.”

~***~

Another hour or so later, Emyli skidded to a halt right outside the library where Raeyn could see her as she approached the younger woman.

“Took your time over breakfast, yes? I will not punish you for now, but do keep in mind that when a Sister asks something of you, you should hop to it as if your life depended on it, which it might just within the Tower.”

Smiling, Raeyn guided the Novice around the room, motioning to various wall hangings, “As you can see, many are quite dusty and dirty, and in need of touching up. If you could carefully clean them, I would be most appreciative.”

Pointing the girl in the direction of the cleaning supplies, Raeyn picked up the book she had left in her chair the night before and resumed reading.

“As you can see, many are quite dusty and dirty, and in need of touching up. If you could carefully clean them, I would be most appreciative.”

Emyli sighed once more. This seamed to be a recuring theme in her life lately. She decided to start lightly, with the duster. Making her way around the library brushing the feathers across all the wood. And there was alot of wood! She wondered what the point was of pushing the dirt into the air, just to settle down again in an hour.

Mid thaught, she bumped into a table, sending the porcalin figurine on it into the air. Dropping the duster, she reached for the valuable trinket. grabing at it in midair, it jumped out of her hand. Bobbling it a bit, it hoped around her hands, and finally came to a rest. Emyli wiped her brow. that was close. She placed the figurine back on the table, and continued with her dusting…

The sound of an object falling pulled Raeyn up from her book and her attentions back on Emyli. Standing up, she made her way over to where the girl was.

“Emyli, take a short break when you are done with the dusting. Go get some lunch, and then come back up here, and there is more that I would like for you to do. And while you are at it, bring up a tray for me, please?”
Raeyn

07 March 2003 (12:53pm)

Finishing her dusting, Emyli walked down to the mess hall, grumbling. “SHe thinks she can order me around…blah blah blah! Get this, do that!” Pausing, she minded her voice, still muttering.

She ate alone, a small meal of soup and bread, with some cheese. She didn’t have many freinds here at the tower. Soaking up the soup with her bread, she realized that Raeyn Sedai hadn’t even told her what she liked to eat.

She went back for more food, and got an assortment of cheeses, bread and some meats for her. Hopefully Raeyn Sedai would like this. Carrying the tray up several levels to the library was a pain, but what wasn’t today? Placing the tray in front of her reading mentor. “For you Aes Sedai” Emyli made her best curtsy.

Smiling, Raeyn stood up to help Emyli bring in her lunch. “Oh my!” she mused inwardly, “I must have forgotten to tell her what I wanted, with her all overburdened with food like that!

Taking away the tray and stashing it in her back room, Raeyn walked back out to Emyli and handed her a broom, “Now that you’ve dusted, and gotten some food into you, it’s time to sweep!”

Leaving the astonished girl with a broom, Raeyn walked to the back and settled in for lunch.

“Now that you’ve dusted, and gotten some food into you, it’s time to sweep!”

Emyli took the broom. “As you say Aes Sedai.”

Starting in a corner, Emyli sneezed and coughed her way across the room. Mind you a cute sneeze…

She thaught about how much fun it would be to boss around novices when she was Aes Sedai. Emyli took care to lift fragile things off of tables before she moved the table to sweep under it. After she swept all the dust into a corner, she took a thin peice of wood to sweep the dirt onto.

She carefully got all the dirt on it, and lifted it so she could find a place to dispose of it. Concentrating on balancing the thin wood and dirt, she negelcted to notice a stack of books some other careless novice left next to some shelves. Tripping, she spilled the dirt all over the floor, landing face first in it. He dusty face lifted from it, with a full mask of dust. A sneeze racked her body, sending the dirt everywhere…

Sighing, Emyli wanted to cry as she wiped herself off, and re-swept. The next time, she was carefull enough not to drop the dirt again.

“Aes Sedai, I have finished dusting.” Raeyn Sedai looked up from her book…

11 March 2003 (5:57pm)

Tapping a finger thoughtfully against her upper lip, Raeyn mused, “Is there anything else that I can think up for this poor girl?

She appeared to be lost in thought as she paced the length of the table that Emyli was leaning on, attempting to catch her breath. Suddenly, Raeyn stopped and grabbed the girl by the hand, “Come with me!”

Dragging the girl to a back area of the library, she pointed to a stack of maps. “These need to be sorted by country, or area. When you are done sorting, there is a bin in which they can be filed there.” She pointed to a large, slotted bin off to their left before rounding back on the Novice, “Be very careful with these maps! Some are older than you could possibly believe, and we are fortunate to still have them!”

She started to walk away, but stopped for a minute to observe the girl before wandering back to the front, and her book.

Some are older than you could possibly believe, and we are fortunate to still have them!”

Emyli turned to the Maps, sighing again. Emyli had no use for maps. She knew her way around most of the northern part of the world. She had travelled all her life. The borders of the countries made no difference to her, but she would always know where she was. Sorting the maps she thaught. ‘Kandor and Arrefell are in the north? Yes i think so. She put them near each other. Caemlyn and Carhien were both big cities. They can go here.’

Emyli had never felt at home in Tar Valon, she always did feel bad in populated areas. Seperating the maps by city, then by region, Emyli dusted off her hands. These were quite organised now if she did say so herself!!!

Hopping after Raeyne Sedai. “Raeyn Sedai, I am done! May i go get dinner now?”

Blinking, Raeyn wandered over to one of the windows to see that the sun was a blazen mass of crimson on the horizion, but she also noticed that the windows were dirty. Shaking her head, she turned back to the girl, “Let us go get some dinner, and then I have one more small task for you.”

Taking Emyli by the hand, Raeyn led the tired girl down to the kitchens for a meal. She let the Novice take her time with the meal, and ask questions of whatever she felt like asking. After a good half hour or so, Raeyn stood up, and motioned the girl to follow her back to the Library.

“Now, the last task I have for you this evening is to clean the windows. I know some are quite tall, so use a ladder CAREFULLY! I know practically nothing of healing, and I’m not sure I could fetch a Yellow Sister fast enough to save your life. When you are done, report back into me.”

“Now, the last task I have for you this evening is to clean the windows. I know some are quite tall, so use a ladder CAREFULLY! I know practically nothing of healing, and I’m not sure I could fetch a Yellow Sister fast enough to save your life. When you are done, report back into me.”

Emyli sighed even more, and dragged the heavy ladder towards the large windows. Climbing up the ladder, she labouriously and tediously washed the windows. Each little crack and cranny. Raeyn made sure she even whiped down the lead of the stained glass.

Emyli was finishing up when she leaned back a bit to admire her work. The ladder tipped a bit, but she recovered. Smileing, she was finally do… “AAHHHH…AAHHHH… AHHHHHHH CHOOOOOO!!!” She opened her eyes. She was still on the ladder. Luckily. She squeaked loudly as she looked at the glass, realizing what her sneeze had deposited on it. She quickly whiped it down, and went off the ladder, then put it away.

“Aes Sedai, I am done with my chores.” She was quite tired, and wished she could go to bed.

Raeyn smiled as the novice stumbled back over to where she was sitting, “Done already child? Well now, you do look as if you should go bathe and rest. But first..” She trailed off as she reached behind the counter and pulled out a few brownies from a tray she kept there while she was working, “You should have a little something sweet before you go. Enjoy these brownies, and by all means, get some rest!”

Shooing the girl off, Raeyn sat back down and continued to read.

The Threesome Reunites *weg* (Rae and Zan)

04 March 2003 (10:54pm)

Taeadra strolled idley down the streets of Tar Valon paying no particular attention to anything. She’d arrived early in town to stop by the dress maker’s shop she loved so much but had finished there long before she thought she would. One advantage of using the same shop is that they always knew what you wanted. Not that Taeadra varied much in her appearance, but still it was nice.

She was to meet Raeyn and Zania at The Bear and The Boar at mid day for a meal. It had been far too long since the three of them had found the time to get together, and she was really looking forward to this day.

Glancing up into the sky she could see the sun was nearly at the midday point and began her stroll to the inn. On the way she passed a merchant selling roses and couldn’t resist buying a few. She bought one each of them, in their favorite colors of course then continued on to the inn.

When she arrived at the inn, Zania and Raeyn were already there waiting at a table. She walked up to them and gave them each a hug and their rose, “It has been far too long since we have done this ladies! We must not let time slip by like this again.” Tae smiled warmly at both of them and took her seat…..

Raeyn had arrived at the inn early for lunch, and was suprised to find Zania Sedai already waiting.

Hugging the other woman, Raeyn exclaimed, “Light woman, how long has it been since we last spoke outside of the Hall?” Both laughed, and sat down to conversate.

Raeyn questioned Zania on the Red Ajah’s trip away from the Tower, and how this would effect others, and her feelings on the Hall’s meeting while they were away. Some arguement ensued, but it was of the friendly, bantering sort between good friends and long-time aquantinces.

The door swung open to admit Taeadra with roses in hand. “Did she meet a suitor in town on the way out here? Raeyn mused to herself, but was suprised to find that the dark red rose was for her. Another round of hugs insued, and then the threesome sat back down.

The innkeeper herself came and took their orders, reassuring them that all would be of the uptmost quality and general wishes for their health and enjoyment of their time in the inn. While waiting for the meal, they conversed on various fripperies, and general catching up.

Twirling the rose between her fingers, Raeyn looked up from the table and smiled at Taeadra, “When I saw the roses, for some reason I thought you might have taken on a lover, Taeadra! But then, how many sisters actually do nowadays?”

“When I saw the roses, for some reason I thought you might have taken on a lover, Taeadra! But then, how many sisters actually do nowadays?”

“Light Rae!! Me a lover….well, that’s not a half bad idea.” Tae’s eyes danced with mischieviousness as she spoke, the idea of a lover had never entered into her mind in all the years she’d been at the Tower, though it had never stopped her from admiring men. “But do you think I could find one that wouldn’t be intimidated by White fringe on my shawl?”

They all shared a laugh at that comment, Tae had not been known for her….warmness but rather for a typical White attitude. Of course that wasn’t really who she was, it just served her purposes most times to act that way. Truth be told, the only ones who had ever seen anything but a cold, calm Aes Sedai behind her eyes were the two women sitting here with her.

Taeadra

05 March 2003 (6:25pm)

Zania sat back and laughed at both Raeyn and Tae. She had missed both of them since things have gotten so hectic in the Hall and in her own ajah. Her smile slipped a bit when she thought about Arad Doman but she refused to let herself think about more.

“Hmmm a lover….. Raeyn you might have just planted an idea in Tae’s and my head.” She chuckled over the looks she received then called a serving woman over to them. “Wine please….and bring the jug.” She turned back the the other two women, “Since we are still waiting for our food we might as well drink a bit.”

Zania

——————————————————————————————–
05 March 2003 (11:18pm)

“Perhaps just a little,” Raeyn murmured to Zania as the other woman poured out a round of drinks, “I try not to drink too much.. it seems to affect my Gaidin quite a bit as well, so.. I wouldn’t want to do that to Matalina.”

Taking the glass with a smile of thanks, she looked up at the other two women, “Lovers, eh? That could be a novel experience, I’m sure. Since I’ve been at the Tower, though, I do have to admit that I gave up any foolish girlhood fantasies of finding a man that could deal with having an Aes Sedai as a lover. Still, perhaps some among the Gaidin..” She trailed off as the food was brought.

Raeyn

——————————————————————————————-
06 March 2003 (10:28am)

Taeadra took another sip of her drink, perhaps she would go easy on the drinking too. After all the last time she and Mariasha had got drunk they had done nothing more than pass the hangover through the bond to each other…though it had been a fun night.

“Hmmm….the Gaidin huh? There are quite a few of them that I would be willing to….entertain.” The smile on her face was filled with mischieviousness, “As a matter fact, I met one young Guard not long ago who was, well, shall we say, not bad on the eyes at all!!!”

Even Tae couldn’t believe the things she was saying, after all she had dedicated her life long ago to the Tower and the idea of having a man in her life was as far from her mind as leaving the Tower would be……but she had to admit…the idea of a ‘trist’ was intriuging………She took another long drink of her wine and thought on that…..

Taeadra

——————————————————————————————
06 March 2003 (5:28pm)

“A cute Gaidin, you say?” Raeyn chuckled, “Anyone I might now?”

Taking a small sip of her wine, she gestured with the cup in her hand, “Now, I’ve often wondered whether or not some of the other Sisters bond men because they are hoping for a bedmate, and not because of generic stereotyping that a male would do better in protecting… Out of respect I haven’t asked around, mine you, but still…” she stopped dead in the middle of her sentence as she finally noticed the wine had slopped out of her glass, and onto the cuff of her dress.

With a rueful grin, she picked up a napkin and began dabbing as best she could, “At least the wine matches the dress… But yes, do tell of this cute Warder, and if he has any friends!”

Raeyn

——————————————————————————————-
06 March 2003 (6:22pm)

Zania giggled over Raeyn’s clumsiness then refilled her cup. She liked to hear the different stories about other Aes Sedai and their warders although she hide it well. She never regreted her ajah choice but then she did not limit herself to some of her fellow ajah sisters ideals either. With a laugh she leaned in , “Yes Tae and do give a description so next time I am in the Yards I will make sure to know him.” She smiled ruefully and took a sip of her wine.

*Now how many cups has that been two?* She thought as she waited for the tale about the Warder.

Zania

07 March 2003 (1:09am)

Tae’s eyes danced over the rim of her wine glass as she looked at the other two women. Though no one else would have been able to see it, she knew that neither of them would miss the slight blush in her cheeks, they had known her far too long not to miss it. “A description you say? Well, light ladies I must admit I not soon forget his face. He was tall, and very young…newly raised to the Guard when I met him, black hair, brown eyes…he was from the borderlands if I remember my classes from our Novice days.” She was smiling now at the memory of that meeting, she’d been harsh on the man, but then there were few she wasn’t harsh to. “Had I not been so busy teaching a bit of discipline to an Accepted who had thought it funny to put horse dung in my slippers, perhaps I could have got to know him better…alas I’m afraid that as usual I let him get away.”

The three of them shared a laugh knowing that Tae did not let anything get away from her unless she intended it to be that way….

Taeadra

——————————————————————————————
07 March 2003 (6:50am)

Raeyn listened raptly to Taeadra’s discription of the young man, and chuckled, “So, an handsome man of the Borderlands, and a trouble-maker? Sounds like the sort of thing that one like us would need!” She had to supress a flurry of giggles… they had been less than perfect students and models of excellence when they had been Novices and even at the level of Accepted.

“I wish I knew of some hansome men to discuss,” Raeyn spoke with a bit of a wistful sigh, “I spend more time than any of you locked up in the Tower, and sometimes it feels like I leave the Tower every couple of years. Still, there is so much to be studied…” she trailed off, and shook her head of regrets, “I think we should go and meet this young man that Taeadra speaks of. And perhaps, if the Light shines on us, he will have some friends!” She did giggle then, and took a sip of her wine.

Raeyn

07 March 2003 (7:25pm)

Zania gulped down her cup of wine and smiled over Taeadra’s description. She remembered the few Warders that she had known over her years at the Tower anc could not remember one that she had actually taken a liking to except for one. The thought of him made her blush a bit then she smiled.

“Well Tae, he certainly sounds handsome. We should go and see this Warder. And I feel Raeyn has has good suggestion about asking around for his friends.” She giggled with them then stopped suddenly and looked at her cup, “I think maybe I had bit too much of this.” She paused for a moment,”oh Light where is the jug I need a refill.” She pounded her cup on the table and grabbed the jug for more.

Zania

12 March 2003 (7:19pm)

Though she tried to keep her face straight, she found it very difficult to do so and before long a wide smile had broke out on her face. “A Warder and his friends…Raeyn, I knew keeping your head buried in those books would pay off for us someday, that sounds like an outstanding idea.” She winked at Rae to let her know she was only joking, sometimes Taeadra’s humor was not well recieved by others, but the two women here knew her well enough by now. “However, we should at least eat first, I hear the food here is exceptionally good.”

Tae motioned for one of the serving girls but was surprised when the innkeeper herself arrived at their table to take their meal order. The innkeeper, Marawin she said her name was, nodded curtly to all of them as she lef their table. Soon after another jug of wine was brought over by one of the serving girls. Tae poured herself another another glass and had a drink of it before speaking again. “I can honestly say that when I asked you two here today I did not think it would lead to conversation as….interesting as we’ve already had.”

She felt like she was an Accepted again planning one of their many trips to the Warders Yard…….

Taeadra

13 March 2003 (12:08pm)

Taking another glass of wine, Raeyn smiled at the other two women at the table, “Yes, this has been most interesting… almost like old times.. To think, that was what.. almost a hundred years ago?” Her smile broadened for a second, then she stared down at her glass.

Taking another sip, she mused almost to herself as she studied the surface of the wine, “Where does the time go, my sisters? One day we’re novices-to-be, gaping at the first site of Tar Valon, and the next we’re Aes Sedai, doing whatever calls us..” she looked back up, smile back on her face, and with a small laugh spoke, “But now, I am starting to sound as if I were a White sister like you, Taeadra! Still..”

She slipped back into silence as their meal was brought to the table. As Taeadra had promised, the food was excellent, and Raeyn began to eat her meal with much relish.

Raeyn

——————————————————————————————–
15 March 2003 (12:43pm)

Conversation slipped into silence as their meals came and they began to eat. The food was absolutely wonderful and Tae knew she would be back here again…and again. It was nice to be away from the Tower…away from the tedious tasks she often set herself about.

“You know this really does remind me of times long past….light…long past at this point.” Tae still could’t believe that it had been nearly a hundred years since the three of them had been wearing the striped dresses…the time had just gone by so quickly. So many things had changed, yet so many things had remained the same. Raeyn was as Brown as she had ever been, each time she saw her friend in the Tower it was with her head buried in a book, or with ink smudges from head to toe…just as she had been when they had first arrived her. And Zania…Zania was still just as she had been, a typical Red in so many ways, yet there were times when Tae would look at her and still could not believe she had chosen Red..that wasn’t entirely true, it had seemed they all had known from the beginning that Zania would be Red Ajah.

With their meals nearly gone, Taeadra ordered more wine for them and they each sipped on another glass, how many they had had so far she couldn’t tell, but it was enough that she was feeling..well a bit more wild than usual. “You know Raeyn, when you mentioned going to try and find this Warder at first I was thinking it might not be the best idea. But now that I have thought on it some more I think it is an excellent idea. I’d like to see that face again….and well, perhaps persuade him for a little more?!” A nervous laugh escaped her, she could not believe she had just said that…yet…it seemed right, it seemed far over due for her, “So what you say we go and find him and hopefully some friends too.”

Taeadra

——————————————————————————————–
23 March 2003 (12:19pm)

Zania feeling a bit mischievous gulped down the last of her wine then stood. “Well what are we waiting for? Lets go and have a bit of fun with your Warder friend…and his friends.” She laughs then waits for the other two.

24 March 2003 (6:38am)

Standing up next to Zania, Raeyn shot her a slightly concerned look, shrugged it off, and was helping the beforementioned pull Taeadra up along with them. Settling with the innkeeper for their meal, they were soon thereafter off….

Time to Get Going, Emyli! (ATTN: Wedge *s*)

23 February 2003 (9:31pm)

Raeyn Sedai straightened up from her table at the sound of a knock on her door. Slightly disgrunted at the disturbance, she strode across her chamber, irritably smoothing out her skirts. Upon opening the door, she was somewhat suprised to find Nynaeve, the Mistress of Novices at her door.

“Now, whatever could you want with me, Nynaeve Sedai?” Raeyn queried with a mild smirk playing across her lips, “last time I checked, I hadn’t been a Novice in a century or so.”

Offering the other Sister entrance, Nynaeve declined, and handed her a slip of paper, explaining that she had been selected for mentorship duty, then taking her leave.

Musing to herself, Raeyn glanced over the bit of parchement, “A mentee? Interesting…. I can’t remember the last time I had one of those…..”

An hour or so later found Raeyn within the Novice’s Quarters, knocking briefly before entering.

“Emyli, is it? I am Raeyn Sedai, your assigned mentor.”

23 February 2003 (11:14pm)

Emyli sat at the rooms small desk. Her roommates were out as usual. They were never all there except when sleeping. She assumed she would be at that pace soon anyway. The door opened.

“Emyli, is it? I am Raeyn Sedai, your assigned mentor.”

Emyli hopped up and curtsied like her mom showed her how. “Yes Aes Sedai, Emyli Toranin that is my name Aes Sedai.” She blushed, she was aying to much.

24 February 2003 (6:59am)

Motioning Emyli up and away from her desk, Raeyn Sedai shuffled the girl out into the hallway, “Now, now child, there is no need to be quite that nervous. Come along now, there is much to see of the Tower.”

Starting down the hall, Raeyn immediately began pointing things out to the Novice, “I’m sure that by now you are aware that this floor, and the floors surrounding it, comprise the Novice galleries, with the Accepted galleries below…..”

They walked to through the areas of the Tower where classes were held, to and through the Library, and along the dusty corridors where some of the more dedicated sisters of the Brown Ajah lived. The Amyrlin’s Study, and the antechamber where Arette Sedai, the Keeper of the Chronicles, were passed by quickly in favor of the Tower’s Kitchens, to grab a lunch to take outside to one of the gardens for a bit of sunshine.

As they ate their lunch, Raeyn turned to Emyli, “Now, child, is there any questions that you would like to ask of me that you haven’t yet?”
Raeyn Sedai

24 February 2003 (5:33pm)

Emyli listened quietly as they strolled through the Tower. By the time they got to eat, she was quite hungry.

“Now, child, is there any questions that you would like to ask of me that you haven’t yet?”

Emyli paused with a chunk of roll in her cheek. She suddenly remembered to finish chewing. “Well Aes Sedai, everyone says I can touch the power, but what if i dont know how?”
Emyli

24 February 2003 (7:16pm)

“Well Aes Sedai, everyone says I can touch the power, but what if i dont know how?”

Raeyn took a deep breath, and then began her explanation, “Why child, noone really knows how to touch the One Power without some form of guidance, and that is one of the first things that we in the Tower will teach you – how to touch and control Saidar. I will attempt to guide you, if you are ready?”

When Emyli nodded in agreement, Raeyn began, “Now, clear your mind of consiousous thought. Picture a rosebud, you are the rosebud….. “, she continued on, hoping that this would be of aid to the Novice by her side.

“Now, clear your mind of consiousous thought. Picture a rosebud, you are the rosebud….. ”

Emyli did as told, picturing a rosebud in her mind, relaxing herslef, imagining it opening. Trying to feel the power that she should be touching, it eluded her. Attempting again. She certainly felt calm, but she felt nothing.

Huffing… “Aes Sedai i can’t feel anything…” Emyli frowned.
Emyli

24 February 2003 (8:27pm)

Huffing… “Aes Sedai i can’t feel anything…” Emyli frowned.

Smiling the smile of patience, Raeyn touched the girl’s shoulder, “One thing that you must keep in mind when trying to touch and channel Saidar is that to master it, you must surrender to it. Trying to grasp it is like trying to grasp air – it simply isn’t possible. With this in mind, try the exercise again.”

“Now, clear your mind of consiousous thought. Picture a rosebud, you are the rosebud….. ”
Raeyn

—————————————————————————————–
24 February 2003 (8:59pm)

Emyli nodded and tried again. The rosbud opened in her mind. Her eyes closed, peacefullnes overcame her. The flower opened more.

Faintly, barely, a feeling came to Emyli, like a sun just about to tip the horizin, or sleep about to overcome you, a precipice. Emyli strained, reaching for it, almost moving her hands towards the ever present light. It fell away. “Ggrrrr”

“I can’t Aes Sedai!”
Emyli

—————————————————————————————–
24 February 2003 (9:23pm)

“Never say can’t, child! You are very close, but remember! You cannot force it at all… let it come to you, surrender to it, and then only may you master and use Saidar.”

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she gestured to the girl to do the same, “Calm is the best way to approach the Source. Be calm, be clear. Now, from the beginning again!

Picture a rosebud in your mind. You are the rosebud…..”
Raeyn

——————————————————————————————
24 February 2003 (9:49pm)

Emyli relaxed again. The rosbud came, with it the relaxation, and the sun just below the horizon. She reached, reached, nothing. The a thaught floated across her head
*You cannot force it at all… let it come to you, surrender to it*

Shes breatehd and relaxed. the..light, or whatever, Emyli couldn;t explain if she was asked to, tipped above the precipice. It was like a light, or a feeling or somthing undescribably, except she wanted more. It faintly touched her, and she gasped. She even shook. It enveloped her, made her feel, hear. She opened her eyes. She wanted to see the world with this new feeling.

She looked at Raeyn Sedai and it fell from her. The beuty and splendor was gone! “I…I” her eyes welled. “I had it…”

Emyli blinked, whiping her eyes. She had to be tough, she would be able to get it again. “Aes Sedai, it felt so…good.” the last word was nearly a whisper. Her life had changed. She could never again be the simple tinker that she was…
Emyli

——————————————————————————————
24 February 2003 (10:15pm)

“So you found Saidar this day, Emyli. This is good. Some girls have a harder time of it, but it seems to go alot on personality.” Raeyn smiled down at the novice… she could still remember the joy of finding the One Power.

Returning from her trip down memory lane, she turned back to Emyli, “If you wish to, you are more than welcome to practice a little more. You will be going through the same thing in some of your classes, but it’s always nice to have a head start. And besides, it is a nice day, and you won’t be able to see too much of them for awhile to come. Novice training is rigourous, and will more than likely keep you busy until you fall onto your bed each night, too weary to understand how you will make it through the next day, or the next. But you will, if you will it.”

Handing the girl another sandwich, Raeyn indulged in another one as well, to give Emyli the time to decide what to do with the rest of the day.
Emyli

——————————————————————————————-
24 February 2003 (10:57pm)

“I will practice more Aes Seai thank you.” Thinking. This was new, this was AMAZING! The beuty of it. “Aes Sedai, is it normal to want to hold onto it?”

“Yes Emyli, but you must be strong and not give into every urge, that can be dangerous, and the point of much of your training.”

“Yes Aes Sedai.” Emyli smiled and her mentor. “Thank you.” Munching on the sandwhich, she that of what she had felt, and where it may take her life. Suddenly her loss of her family wasn’t quite so bad. But she still missed her mother, and her sisters, and her dog Rogue. “Aes Sedai, i would like to take a walk today, then retire to my room, where I can continue to practice.” Emyli smiled a wide eyed smile.
Emyli

——————————————————————————————-
24 February 2003 (11:07pm)

“A walk, then? Let’s!” Raeyn replied, genuinely happy to be outside for once… she spent too much time in her chambers working.

Along the way they made idle conversation of this and that, mainly admonishments from Raeyn Sedai not to try to do anything with the One Power at this point, but to merely practice opening up to it, and holding it. Before she knew it, time had passed, and it was time to return Emyli to her room.

“Remember child, don’t try anything without an Accepted or an Aes Sedai to guide you! Saidar is no child’s toy, and you can hurt yourself or someone else.. you could even burn yourself out, and never be able to feel Saidar again… you would be an empty shell. Anyways, get what rest you can before you are put to work on chores and classes, and I’m sure we shall meet again.”

On that note, Raeyn turned from the door and headed back to her chambers.

Gathering the Brown Ajah (Get in here Ladies!!)

05 September 2002 (10:34 am CST)

Glaring at the fidgeting novice, Raeyn Sedai finished writing out the last of her invites, sanded and sealed it. Handing the large stack to the young girl, “Find every member of the Brown Ajah that is in the Tower, and give them the invitation with their name on it. If you are unable to find that sister, then leave it for them in their chambers. Either way, you need to get these all distributed in the next hour or two… well, move girl!”

Shooing the novice out of the room and closing the door behind her, Raeyn wandered back over to her desk and sat down. She picked up the bit of scrap on which she had first jumbled together the note :

All Brown Sisters are to meet in the back room of the Library on this evening after Supper for a meeting of great importance to our Ajah. It is in your best interest to attend.

Short, but simple, with no word that could be leaked via some overzealous novice carrying the notes. Crumpling up the scrap, she dropped it in her wastebasket and started on her work for the day… the day would go by quickly regardless.

———————————————————————————–

06 September 2002 (8:05 pm CST)

The knock on the door sounded ominous to Poluna as she sat at her desk pouring over yet more information on the Aes Sedai of the past. She had just finished reading a riveting passage on Shein Chunla, an Aes Sedai who was raised from the Green Ajah.

“You have to hand it to them,” Poluna mused to herself, “The Greens certainly like to be remembered for strange and unusual things. Oh … right, the door.” Like most Aes Sedai who took the shawl of the Brown Ajah, Luna was sometimes scatterbrained, or at least not always on top of everything that was going on around her. Ask her about a fact from a book that she was reading, and chances were, she could quote passage to you.

Poluna rose from her seat and went to the door. Upon opening the door she found a novice standing at the door, with her hand raised, as if to knock again.

“Well?” Luna asked the novice. “What are you doing knocking on my door in the middle of the night?”

“Umm… It’s n-n-not the middle of the n-n-night Poluna Sedai. It’s just before dinner time.” The novice managed to stutter out.

“Oh,” Poluna looked out her window at the dusky sky, “so you’re right.” She looked at the novice again. “Don’t just stand there girl, what are you doing?”

“A note. Raeyn Sedai sent me to give you this note.” The novice said shoving a note with the words Poluna Sedai scrawled on the front of the envelope.

Taking the envelope from the novice’s hands, Poluna nodded and then opened the note.

All Brown Sisters are to meet in the back room of the Library on this evening after Supper for a meeting of great importance to our Ajah. It is in your best interest to attend.

“Oh… Yes… I see. But of course.” She looked up. “Well, what are you still standing there for? I’m sure you have a lot to do. Shoo!”

The novice jumped and turned around and practically ran away. “Pish tosh.” Luna muttered. “Novices these days. So jumpy.” She remarked, seemingly forgetting that she acted the same way when she was a novice.

Arette was just having her secret little break from the day’s work and eating the chocolate she had saved. She had melted browness of her fingers and she knew her lips were in chocolate too. Sometimes she thought she was cursed. Everytime she ate something fast, she managed to dirty herself. She was so concentrated on the heavenly taste that she squeaked in most un-Aes Sedai fashion when she heard someone clearing her throat on the doorway of her office. She jump to her licking her lips and saw a wide-eyed novice with a note. “What is it child?”, she asked a little bit hotness in her voice. The novice curtsied quickly so low that her head was nearly touching the floor and told her that she had a note from Raeyn Sedai for her. Arette thanked her and dismissed her. She opened the note and was happy to see that she was also invited to the meeting. She cursed when she noticed the chocolate stains on the letter and went to wash her hands wondering what Raeyn was up to.

***
Right after the supper, Arette knocked to the door and heard “Enter” in Raeyn’s recognizible voice. She smiled warmly at her and Poluna who was back in the Tower after traveling so long in the world. “It is good to see you sisters. I feel that I’m so busy these days that I don’t have more than a couple of minutes for myself in a day not to mention to spend with my sisters.” She sighed and wished she didn’t sound like she was whining. She sat beside Poluna and asked her and Raeyn how they were.

07 September 2002 (11:26 am CST)

Mellyn had been in the middle of a busy day. Novices seemed to have a habit of all getting into trouble at once, so for the past few hours she’d had a steady stream in and out of her office. Another knock came to her door, and with a sigh, Mellyn called for the person to come in the door. Another Novice. Already thinking of punishments in her mind, she said “Yes, Child? Why have you been sent to me?”

The girl, slight dread on her face, seemed to stutter slightly, holding something out towards Mellyn. Impatience seething through her mind, she took the note and scanned it. A meeting of the Brown Ajah was scheduled for later today, it seemed. She would be there of course. She dismissed the girl hurredly, and got back to her business.
—————————————————

That evening, Mellyn made her way quickly to the room where the meeting was scheduled. Opening the door, she found she found a few of the Sisters there already, as well as the Keeper and the Head. She greeted everyone before sitting and istening to the words surrounding her. She felt the need to relax before the meeting began, and had had no opportunity for that earlier in the day.

Raeyn greeted her sisters warmly as they began to arrive to their little Brownie hideaway in the library. She had come up during dinnertime and had set up some chocolate snacks of various types, some tea, coffee, and of course, hot chocolate. With so many of the Brown sisters in important posiitons around the Tower, chocolate therapy would be a MUST before any meeting whatsoever could be started.

Tapping on the table, she gathered everyone’s attention, “My Sisters, we shall start the meeting in a few minutes, just in case there is anyone that is running a little late. Enjoy some chocolate for the moment.”

Raising her hand to knock almost timidly on the door, Karana put it down and smoothed her dress over her hips. How often had she called these meetings? How strange, after centuries, to not be in charge of the Brown Ajah any longer.

How unbearable to feel she had to knock on these, of all, doors… Instead, she grasped the handle and glided through, the picture of composure and graciousness. She inclined her head as the Sisters stood up and curtsied to her, and though her heart ached with love for these women, she acknowledged them in the way that sadly separated them all.

“Greetings, Daughters. I hear there are plans to be made that could affect the entire knowledge base of the White Tower for centuries to come.” She grinned conspiratorially at them. “I felt I could crash your party, even though I wasn’t actually invited.”

A knock on the door, followed shortly thereafter by the figure of Karana Sedai, the now Amyrlin Seat, was almost enough to cause Raeyn to jump out of her seat. She was quite pleased to see her former Ajah head, and now Mother here, but still!

“Greetings, Daughters. I hear there are plans to be made that could affect the entire knowledge base of the White Tower for centuries to come.” She grinned conspiratorially at them. “I felt I could crash your party, even though I wasn’t actually invited.”

Taking Karana’s hand and kissing her ring in midcursty, Raeyn peered up with a smile, “Glad that you have the time to crash the party, Mother. As proud as we are of your ascension to the Amyrlin Seat, we still miss you terribly in this parts. Please, take a seat.. refreshments? We should be starting shortly.”

Reaching her quarters after spending the day with Dal and Mashi, Terra was tired. She noticed a letter sticking out from her door. It was labled with her name on it so the Brown sister pried it open and quickly read the note. She bolted to the library not taking any notice of the various people that looked at her in the oddest fashion.

She reached the library and all the other Sisters turned and looked her way. She curtsied to Mother and the Keeper and tried to sit down as unobtrusivley as possible. It didn’t really work being as she tripped on her own feet and fell on her face. None of the Sisters really laughed but she thought she heard a few coughs and some people hid their mouths with their hands. Terra smiled at them and sat down wondering why they were all here.

Seeing as everyone was present and seated, Raeyn Sedai moved to the front of the room and clapped to get everyone’s attention.

“Today sisters, I have gathered you to resubmit an idea that was lost and obscured for a number of years, but I feel that now is the time to bring it back up for discussion. This would be the Brown Ajah’s Research Facility that, I hope, we have all wanted and wondered about. Basically, I wanted to use this meeting as a discussion forum, so that we may gather together ideas for submittance to our Amyrlin Seat, currently present.” Raeyn smiled at Karana Sedai and made a slight bow before continuing, “I will now open up the floor to all present for suggestions and ideas, in hopes that all our minds together can better help craft our mutual dream.”

Raeyn flashed a glance around the room, then sat down in the chair she had pulled a bit aside from the rest of the group next to the door. Smoothing her skirts across her lap, she stilled her hands and waited for the first sister to speak.

After everyone had arrived, and Luna had munched on her fair share of chocolate goodies, Raeyn began to speak, “Today sisters, I have gathered you to resubmit an idea that was lost and obscured for a number of years, but I feel that now is the time to bring it back up for discussion. This would be the Brown Ajah’s Research Facility that, I hope, we have all wanted and wondered about. After Raeyn had sat down, Luna quickly gulped the morsel of food that was in her mouth and stood up.

“Mother, Keeper and fellow Brown Ajah, I do have some great ideas regarding this tower. After Raeyn and I first spoke of this again, after my long stay away from you guys, which by the way I enjoyed, but I wish that I hadn’t left because of the reasons that I did, I was thoroughly excited. I have been looking forward to beginning this venture. The things that we’ll learn and the new people that we will be able to speak with, will make this experience phenomenal.” She took a deep breath, barely containing the excitement that bubbled up inside of her. The opportunity to learn and study new weaves, building, and, well, everything, created in her a drive and a bubbling that rarely showed itself. Learning excited Poluna, one of the many reasons that she chose this Ajah. A love of books and reading was not everything, one had to ENJOY the hard work that came with studying and with learning things that, in some cases, one had no teacher to explain and guide one through.

“Now, I do have some ideas on what we could do. I’ve always wanted to see what we may be able to do in terms of agriculture. The population is getting larger, and it would be best to learn new forms of crop production before our populations explode much more. A second idea, which I’m sure would be popular with at least one other Ajah, besides our own, is Medical Research. The interaction with another Ajah might do our project good. The chances of it being accepted are greater if there is more than one Ajah involved.” Luna wrung her hands. She had more ideas, but she felt that she should allow others to share their thoughts and dreams on what they could learn. Nodding to her Sisters and to the Amyrlin Seat, she sat down on her chair and waited.

Karana had meant to only listen, but she had been a Brown Aes Sedai for 250 more years than she had been the Amyrlin, and well, old habits died hard. What a coup it would be for her to go down in history as the Amyrlin (Raised from the Brown) who had started the grand and glorious Research Facility.

“Long I dreamed of this Research Facility, but the time was never right. Right or not, now is the time. There are so many things we can study, that my mind fairly boggles. I know a subject dear to Arette’s heart that I am sure she will introduce, and probably you all know what I would do, had I the time.”

“I spent nearly my entire life working with ter’angreals. I have some Talent with them and have recovered many for the Tower, and more importantly, I have discovered the uses of many of them. Many, many times I felt like I was so close to understanding their secret, to figuring out how they worked, not just how to use, but how, in fact, to make them.” She sighed and frustration crossed her face fleetingly.

“Had I but another 300 years to study them, maybe I could figure out how to make them. In place of that, maybe, just maybe, I can spend some time in the Facility under the guise of inspecting it and do some research as I can. My desire for what should be done in the Research Facility is the study of ter’angreals.”

Arette listened with keen interest what her fellow sisters were suggesting. Bright smile lit her face when she heard Karana mentioning her special interest. She had dabbled with a bit of everything, but her special knowledge areas were the Prophecies and astronomy. She listened with wonder how Karana told that she had been close to recovering the secret of ter’angreal making. She would have to ask if she had time someday to tell Kit about it. Arette still felt a bit exhausted when she remembered the day she had shown her mentee the ter’angreal storage room. Kit had become obsessed with the subject since and asked her everytime they met something about them.
After Karana had sat down, she stood and said smiling “I would like to suggest that we base an observatorium. I know that the night sky has been mapped couple of times, but there is one flaw in them. I have read journals of the sailors – such an wonderful language they use – and noticed that the stars change when you go south. I have never seen a map of southern stars those.” She blushed slightly when she realized that she had been rambling, the Tower was so north that such a study was impossible from their observatory. “Ermh…this project would also give us a chance to study the Atha’an Miere more since they are the masters of the seas and usually navigate by stars. But the most interesting area of study is how to combine the Prophecies and astronomy. “Twice dawns the day when his blood is shed.
Once for mourning, once for birth”, she recited. “I believe that this means solar eclipse. If we could predict them, we could also predict the Tarmon Gai’don.” Naturally she didn’t add that they were in a hurry already. The Dragon Reborn was a man and trollocs had been seen south where they hadn’t been since the Trolloc Wars. Wishing that her face didn’t show anything of ger thoughts, she sat down. “Well, that’s all I have to say sisters.”

Leaning back in her chair, Eniara mulled over the possibilites the research facility could have. There were so many things that could be preserved and done…and this project was so long in the works. Smiling, she rose to her feet to speak.

“I think this project is a wonderful thing and a long time in coming, and I know you all have wonderful ideas for what we can do with it. However, I while it is not exactly research, I would like to put in my idea that a ancient documents preservation area be built. Currently, stored away in the library are countless fragments of ancient texts that have been stored away…some haven’t been touched in several hundred years. Because there is so much material in the library, it is unfeasable to try and sort and piece together these documents. I think it would be wonderful to have a place to take these relics to categorize and sort and try to preserve and repair them. We do not fully know how much of a treasure we have in the basements and we have no way to find out just how great it is in the current situation.”

Nodding to the Amyrlin and Raeyn, Eni retook her seat.

Humming with excitement, Raeyn stood up, barely containing her pride and happiness with her Ajah’s suggestions. Clasping her hands to her together in front of her, she let herself smile broadly at those gathered, “I’m impressed, sisters. All that you have suggested thusfar sounds excellent, but of course, I am interested in seeing if anyone else has anything to suggest before we go our ways for the evening.”

Crossing the floor, she poured herself another cup of hot chocolate and leaned against the wall… she couldn’t stand to sit any longer.

Grabbing a piece of parchemnt, Raeyn began writing down all the things her sisters had mentioned thusfar in their meeting.

“Lets see here” she mused to herself as she began writing, “Poluna suggested agricultural and medical research, The Amyrlin mentioned ter’angrael research, Arette mentioned building an observatory, Eniara suggested more storage space and such for document preservation. Was there anything else that anyone would like to add to this before we begin figuring out the how of it all?”

Nodding in reply to Poluna’s suggestion, Raeyn added it to the list, Wiping a smudge of ink across her nose, she replied, “Not quite Luna.. as flowers is horticulture, and food is agriculture. Perhaps a separate greenhouse for..” she trailed off as she dashed a few quick lines across the page. Looking back up from the parchment, Raeyn glanced around the room, “Anything else from anyone?”

Arette was listening what everyone said while she was trying to come up with more ideas. The medical research made her think. They would naturally be co-operating with the Yellows in that area. But the more Ajahs were involved, the easier the whole idea would be accepted. They would need new buildings after all and the money didn’t grow in trees. Greens and Reds worked mostly with weaves and Greys and Blues with politics. Maybe they could devote more time to Prophecies studies and combine the lore Greens and Reds had, but to study Daes Dae’mar you had to leave the Tower. Remembering the Hall meetings, she cancelled that thought too. But then there were only Whites left, the most prominent philosophers of the world. That sparked something. She didn’t remember reading much new philosophical texts that weren’t written by them. Maybe it was because to be a philosopher, you needed to do it all day long and it didn’t bring much bread to table. They could become patrons for people who wanted to become philosophers. And maybe there already were people who were studying these things but who lacked funds. So far she hadn’t heard any idea besides ter’angreals that had to do with the One Power or that was somehow secret. Normal people could help them. Raeyn was about to continue when she decided to present the idea. “Sisters, will this research be merely for Aes Sedai? I’m sure that we could find interested people who have studied these areas before to help us and bring more knowledge with them. I can think of one area of study in the world where the White Tower has monopoly and it is philosophy. Maybe we could start supporting people who want to become one. Besides this way we would get the Whites interested of the project and we would have at least two Ajahs, White and Yellow, on our side when it is decided that is this idea worth the amount of money we would have to put into it.”

Verina had taken the message from the novice, who had interrupted her. She opened the seal and read the contents:

“All Brown Sisters are to meet in the back room of the Library on this evening after Supper for a meeting of great importance to our Ajah. It is in your best interest to attend”

She looked at the candle and knew she had plenty of time, until the meeting and so carried on re-writing the translation she was working on.

As she neared the end of the chapter, she casually looked at the candle and suddenly worked out why it had gone quite dark.

“Oh light, late again”, Verina grabbed her shawl and pushed her glasses into her hair.

“Late as usual, I don’t know why they don’t remind me and send a novice to get me when it’s time!”

She reached the library in time to hear Karana finish speaking. Strange that the ‘ex’ head of the Browns was here.

She pushed open the door and tried to sneak in the back.

Arching an eyebrow as Verina made her way to the back, Raeyn looked around the room. The sisters were still in avid discussion of the facility, so Raeyn casually made her way to the back.

“Is everything okay, Verina? Glad that you made it regardless, but next meeting…” she let it trail off, but ruined it with a small smile, “Now, come, join into the discussion. We’re pretty much to the point of wrapping it all up for the evening, but I still would like to hear what you would suggest.”

Tower Library (anyone may join)

09 July 2002 (7:56pm)

Matalina had always gone to the library, but as of late she had avoided it for very strong reasons. Even though Raeyn spent a good deal of her time there, Matalina had not made her way there since they had returned from the borderlands. Matalina catiously walked up to the library doors and slipped inside. She avoided Yveva’s study and made her way to the very opposite corner.

She was here to continue her studying of Me’Arearth. Great Philosophers and Generals. Matalina had already covered two books, but would start with them again, The Art of War and The Book of Five Rings are two of Matalina’s favorite books. They were always a good way to start a day of reading.

Matalina scanned the book shelves for anything of interest. Infantry Combat: … An Interactive Exercise in Small-Unit Tactics and Leadership (OOC missing The Rifle Platoon where the … are), Armor Attacks: … An Interactive Exercise in Small-Unit Tactics and Leadership (OOC missing The Tank Platoon where the … are), Spec Ops: Case Studies in Special Operations Warfare: Theory and Practice , Surprise Attack: Lessons for Defense Planning , The Thirty-Six Strategems: Secret Art of War , Maneuver Warfare Handbook (Westview Special Studies in Military Affairs) , Sieze and Hold: Master Strokes on the Battlefield (Cassell Military Class) . Matalina scanned for any of the books that might help her in her discipline, eventually she would find something else to read other than the two she’d already read over and over.

Matalina pulled out a two books that looked interesting and too them to a new spot in the library to claim as her own. The library was huge and there was plenty of places you could hide here if you didn’t want to be found.

Matalina sat down at a table put her books down and choose one she’d not read. It was a book written about the accounts of some war in the past. Matalina didn’t know which one, the title didn’t reveal much. She opened the book, leaned back in her chair and began to read.

Raeyn felt someone approaching her in the Library. Looking up from her project in the back room, she walked to the doorway…. strange, she saw noone but yet the feeling persisted. As she was halfway sitting down, she stood up again, realizing that she was feeling someone approach, sort of, that being her Warder.

Wending her way through the rows of books, ancient and cracking, she bee-lined across the library to a nook near the back, where she found Matalina sitting.

Quietly, Raeyn lowered herself down into another seat and watched as the other woman read. She knew that Matalina knew she was there, but sat waiting for the other woman to respond. Raeyn could… feel.. feel. that something was in the mind of the other woman. She found her hands on her skirts, twitching them. She calmed herself, and waited.

Matalina felt Raeyn’s presense somewhere off in the other direction of the library. It was a much different feeling than with Yveva, but the same. It was hard to explain, but each of the bonds held a different feel. Matalina smiled as she read. After a while Matalina knew Raeyn was searching for her. The bond was quickly telling Matalina that Raeyn was just around the corner.

Matalina continued to read, Raeyn would find her. This was her first bond and they hadn’t been bonded long, she needed to learn how to use it. Matalina knew Rae had sat down in a chair at the table. “You look nevous.” Matalina sat foward in her chair, putting the front two feet on the ground, where previously they’d been in the air. A balancing act to practice. Matalina closed the book. “What’s wrong?”

Raeyn smiled at the other woman, “I guess that I’m still getting used to having another person in my head… after so many years being alone in my head, it can’t help but feel anything but unusual… how do you get used to such a thing?!” she threw up her heads, and laughed softly as she turned her attention back to her hands in her lap.

After a moment’s consideration, she looked back up at Matalina, “Also, I sensed some.. disquiet? disquiet perhaps, through the bond.. as if there is something going through your mind as of late… something concerning our bond, perhaps?”

Raeyn Sedai

Matalina half smiled at the feelings of disquiet. Yes she was. All three of them were wondering as to their purpose to their new bond holder. -Is she a darkfriend?- *Please, let her be, I don’t want to be in service of a light fool.* Do be quiet, this is not the place for this discussion, in our head our in the library. So quiet down. “This is not the place to discuss such concerns, too many ears in the library.”

Matalina grabbed all four books and stood up from the table, “Your room might be a good place.” Raeyn nodded and Matalina followed her to her room. This was the first time Matalina had been there. She looked around surveying the details. She’d soon come to know this room very well.

When the door was closed Matalina spoke softly to her new bond holder, “You said you knew one of our secrets, which secret did you mean?”

16 July 2002 (4:49pm)

Asura hated dusting! And the middle of the afternoon was the worst time to do it! She could be outside in the sun watching the Warders practice, if only they’d let her do such a thing. Or she could be outside under a tree reading one of the books instead of dusting them! It really did seem a waste of time more than washing dishes. Some brown sister would simply borrow it, keep it locked up in her rooms for who knows how many years and it would simply get dusty again. She’d rather be washing dishes. Asura cringed at the thought. She never would have thought she’d ever think such a thing. A month ago she wouldn’t have been caught dead in the kitchen except to tell the servent and the cooks what to prepare for super.
As she dusted a curious thing happened. A warder, one she thought she recognized, was looking through books on war. It seemed quite a normal thing for a warder to do and the look on her face was most likely frustration from not finding the book she was looking for. It seemed quite a normal thing except for some reason Asura became curious, there just wasn’t something right about it…

Actually now that she thought about it Asura didn’t think she’d ever seen her in here before, but being a warder and having duties to her Aes Sedai it was probably just because she was busy.

Asura was about to go ask her if she needed any help when shepicked up the books she had and carried them to the other side of the library.
Asura dusted her way over to her and watched. Why am I being so curious? Asura kept watching The warder through the cracks between the books and the shelves. Then she noticed something else quite curious: an Aes Seadi, a brown by the looks of her simple clothes and ink smudges. She approached slowly but stopped before coming within vision of the warder. Asura could see both plainly, but niether could see each other. Although it was strange, because if there had not been a couple of bookcases between them, the Aes Sedai would have been staring right at the warder and the warder smiling as if she knew the Aes Seai was watching her. Asura had never seen a warder smile before. They stayed in thier places and didn’t move for sometime. The warder could be smiling about her book… what book on war would ever be that funny? They must be bonded. There was no other explaination, but then why didn’t one simply approach the other if they both knew the other was there.

They obviously had some major issues to discuss simply by the urgency of the air around them and the looks of uneasyness in thier eyes.
Finally the Aes Sedai got up and walked over to the warder, who did not look up from her book. They exchanged a few words before they book was snapped shut. All Asura could hear were mumbles and whispers none of which were coming from either the Warder or her Sedai but from other places in the Library. before she could get any closer they quicky left and almost scrambled out of the library, Asura just barley brought her feather duster up before they passed and the Sedai gave her a cruel stare. Oh light! I hope she didn’t see me! Asura’s first instinct was to follow and see what they were up to, but she quickly caught herself, if she ran off after every Sedai that did something she strange, she’d never rest until the world was broken again!! And even then…
Though I must admitt, that was awfully peculair. Even for Aes Sedai

Well she’d never get out of here if anyone saw that she wasn’t dusting and told on her, so she went back to grumbling about her chores. She was probably excited about nothing anyway. She really needed to go on an adventure or something….

When the door was closed Matalina spoke softly to her new bond holder, “You said you knew one of our secrets, which secret did you mean?”

Seating herself on the edge of a chair, Raeyn grimaced, “When you were unconcious,.. you kept muttering about serving the Great Lord… a dangerous thing to speak, conciously, or unconciously. I felt… that perhaps you would be the kind of protection that I need, and that perhaps I would be able to aid you as well. Above and beyond what we have previously discussed, I swear to you that I know of nothing…. You do, of course, understand what I am?” Raeyn drew in a deep breath, as if it we her last, and gripped onto her skirts. As sure as she was, this was still somewhat of a gamble, but the Great Lord willing, all would work out well.

Matalina nodded, “Aye, if you know that particular secret. I was truly hoping it was not the case, but it seems that your Master is now mine.” Matalina sighed. Kayla whimpered and well Marosa giggled with glee. All three emotions eminated thru the bond. “However do keep in mind with the servent of your Master there are two friends of his opposer. I may not agree with you, but I will follow orders even those against my true beleifs.”

Matalina waited for Raeyn’s reaction.

I …” she paused for a moment, collecting her thoughts, “I just wanted to try and save the first person that I had really ever considered a friend. It probably sounds like dung, coming from me, you knowing what I am, but … I thought you should know…” Raeyn looked up from her unconsious study of her hands, stilling herself and facing Matalina, “I just felt that what I did was the right thing, for both of us.” A small laugh, full of mirth. “You probably wouldn’t agree with me, but what can I say?”

Matalina smiled, “Under the circumstances, with the third bond broken it is good that I did not die when it broke, and that you would not let me kill myself, despite my better judgement.” Matalina thought about the bonds and the failure that resulted in the breaking for three. Matalina sighed, “However, I do not know what kind of Warder I will be for you. I’ve failed two others.” The guilt and the pain rolled off of the void. And there were no more doors to hide it behind. It would one day have to be dealt with.

Raeyn nodded, “I know that you have had your failures in your past, as we all have. But the past is past, and now we can only see how it affects the present. However, if this assurance isn’t enough, I might have a small task for you soon. I cannot say much at this point, but information will be given to you as time permits. For now, don’t worry… keep youself occupied with what you need to, and I will probably have my hands full here soon.” A rougish smile twitched across Raeyn’s lips, and was gone before more than an impression of such could be made on any observer.

Matalina knew what she had in mind, the smile that parted her lips, Matalina had caught. It was her job to be observant of all things. It didn’t last long and if she wasn’t always looking for things, she’d not have seen it. Me’Arearth was in her blood and had been since she had found the Tower and the Warders training in the yards, more than 20 years ago.

“I will do as I’m told when I’m told. I don’t question unless it’s necessary. However, I have the oppurtunity to go into a different sort of training to help better myself for your possible needs for me.” Matalina let the Rogue training hang as that, “I hate to ask a leave from you, but now that you are Head of the Brown Ajah, I cannot ask you to come with me so early in your career. I don’t know how long it will be, or where I will be going. Will this be alright with you?”

Raeyn did smile this time, “A chance for more training? That you can’t get here in Tar Valon? I would be willing to let you go. Raeyn let the smile slide away… Matalina was worried about threats within the Tower as well? SHE, Raeyn Sedai, was the threat! Regardless, Raeyn sent a wave of reassurance through the bond.

Matalina spoke again, “This, I hope, will be the only time that I request a leave from you. I am happy going where you go.”

Raeyn smiled, “We must do what we need to. I hope that you won’t be gone too long, but any extra training a person can recieve is excellent. I know that I wouldn’t mind a chance to train with others with different methods, but.. oh well,” she shrugged, “Is there anything that I can do for you in the interim? Information, snack treats?…” she trailed off, and absentmindedly dropped into a chair, fishing through a stack of papers on the desk, “I know I have…” she trailed off into murmers as Raeyn shifted folders, books, papers, rocks, and so forth.

The reassurance from the bond didn’t comfort her. She may think she was safe, but under the circumstances having the Head of the Brown Ajah being a Black Ajah member was not safe at all. The possiblities were endless if someone found out her true natute. Matalina knew she would not survive another bond breaking.

Matalina laughed at Raeyn went into the typical brown mode. “Typical brown, you lose everything under you books and papers.” Matalina shook her head. “No I’m not in need of anything at the moment. Perhaps if you are hungry we can go elsewhere. You’ve seemed to lost your snacks.”

At Mat’s mention of snack-treats, Raeyn’s head whipped up from her pile of files on the table, “Sounds good.. I haven’t had a brownie since.. right before I found you in the Library…. Actually, I still have some tea and brownies in there.. sound good?”

Matalina nodded, “I think that will do.” It’s better than going out and getting beer *You are no fun. I like beer.* You’ve never even had any beer, so how do you know? *I have too.* How, I never have and you’ve only been in my mind for no more than a few months. So how could you have had any? That stumped Marosa, she had no clue. Matalina smiled happily, it was always good to get the upper hand on Marosa.

Homeward Bound

23 June 2002 (7:28pm)

Matalina had slept the rest of the day. The foreign emotions and the previous days had done a toll on her. The talk with Raeyn would need to wait.

The next morning it was time to go. Alendacia’s body needed to be returned to the Tower for a proper burial. Matalina had told everyone that she was ready to go that morning and my noon they were all to meet in the stables to go home at a slow pace.

Matalina saddled Tain Cor but let Kayla finish the rest of it. Tain Cor enjoyed Kayla’s touch as much as Kayla enjoyed the horse’s nuzzles. Matalina could feel Raeyn moving about and saddled her horse as well. It’s time to go home. -Yes, I’m ready to go.- *Home is the White Tower. Where there is Black Ajah?* Aye, apparently so. *Good, Good!*

The next day found Raeyn saddling up her horse. It had been quite a trip, worth the pages in her journal. Still, she had her duties to the Tower, and to her true Ajah as well.

Double-checking to make sure that everything was in place, Raeyn waved a few hellos to the other members of her party before saddling up. Pulling on a light dustcloak, rode over to where Matalina was finishing up. It was trully time to return to what awaited.

“Afternoon, My Sedai.” Matalina remembered the emotions from the night before, “I do hope you had a good evening untainted from the bond?”

Vanair went to saddle his horse the next morning. He had a a lot of conflicting thoughts and emotions going through his head. He hoped that they didn’t show on his face. He mounted and rode to find Mat. When he reached the front of the stabbles he saw Mat talking with her Aes Sedai. “I had better not interupt.” He thought to himself. He rode oon ahead and merely nodde to both of them in passing. When he was outside he found a nearby tree and unrooled a target that he had brought with him. The tied it around the tree and took out his bow and a quiver of arrows to do some target practice until they left. He called up the void and began shooting. Most of his arrow hit the inner two rings with a few hiting the bullseye.

Matalina noticed Vanair as he passed and nodded, she tried to smile, but it wasn’t in her nature. She talked to Raeyn, but would have watched from a distance, but her Sedai came first and alway would. That was her duty. They needed to talk more once he became a Tower Guard.

Hawkin’s side was now healed thanx to his Sedai which he appreciated very much. He had let it go too long and had zapped most of her strenght for she was not a healer. He saddled her horse along wth his and boosted her up into the saddle. He swung up into his and looked around at the others. He hadn’t talked to any of them the whole trip, he had said a few words to Matalina before leaving, but had only talked to Verina a few times too. What was happening to him. He shook his head, he didn’t know, maybe his time was near or maybe he just wasn’t liked. “Can’t please them all.” He said to himself as he moved his horse over by Verina’s.

Alendacia was head of the party before and now Matalina was due to the fact that the trip home was to take the dead Sedai to a resting place of the Ajah’s choosing.

The coffin was pulled by a mule Matalina had bought for the purpose. They told Matalina if they hurried the body would make it to their destination. Matalina only half beleived them, but hoped that she would make it to her burial place in good condition for a decent funeral service.

Matalina spoke with Raeyn on the ride out of town and kept glancing at Vanair as he rode. She wondered how awkward things would be as they finished his training. Hopefully in the public yard things would be as they should, on their own time things could be different. It would be interesting to see in the future.

Verina had been a little drained, she was no healer and what strenght she’d had in that department, was all but gone. It had taken several days for her to come back to any decent strength, but she wouldn’t have had it any other way.

She watched as Hawkin moved his horse near to her. When he was close enough, she whispered, “This is a trifle strange, don’t you think? Already we are packing up to go home, and we haven’t really had a purpose. The Trolloc attack was also very strange and the closed doors with Rae and Mat. I have all the interesting little details, written here in my notebook”. She patted her cloak, where underneath, in a hidden lining of her dress, was her secret notebook. She look at Hawkin and then around her to see if anyone was trying to listen in.
